Post subject: Fun with Napster-To-Go. Suggestions please!

My girlfriend's [ahem] taking advantage of Napster's generous 14-day free trial.
Any suggestions for good music we can download? _________________ My old sig was too long. |

Hey....I was the one who knew that was a kidney stone......
Plus, you try to break the DRM code when you need is to record the sound internally. |

Postal Service, Brand New, Ben Folds, those are three of my favorite bands. Are you looking for more indie stuff? More mainstream? I can give some suggestions in each of those veins. _________________ anime is teh s uck

My woman's a fan of Ben Folds (post Five), and I'll give her those other suggestions. Thanks.
She's been branching out to a lot of indie stuff since she saw (and got the soundtrack for) Garden State. _________________ My old sig was too long. |

Ahh! Ok then! Along the Garden State vibe, try Deathcab For Cutie, Rilo Kiley, and The Shins. Also look into some Iron and Wine and Frou Frou.
Along the Ben Folds vibe, try Ben Kweller. There are some other bands along that vibe, but you kind of need to seem them live before you can appreciate them (Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, Virginia Coalition, Keller Williams.)
Aside from that, some bands I enjoy would be Jimmy Eat World, Idlewild, and Guster.
Hope that helps. _________________ anime is teh s uck

Burning Airlines - Only had two(really good) cds and broke up in 2001
Frou Frou - English group featuring singer Imogen Heap and Guy Sigworth of Maddona's husband fame. Hauntingly beautiful stuff (Also from Garden State)
Reveille - Formally local Boston group who might at first sound like another craptastic Rap/Rock spinoff but hold their own.
Air - Downtempo French electronic band. Get "Surfing on Rocket".
VAST - A band consisting of one very talented young man named Jon Crosby. His first album is a mix of 90's hard rock and heavenly samples from monks and stuff. I honestly can't explain it, but you'll like it.
The Anniversary - Upbeat emo band, also recently broken up.
Spoon - If you like the Kings of Convenience you'll like them. Minimalist mellow rock.
A Static Lullaby - Pure unadulterated(pretty damn good) Screamo.
Apocalyptica - A group of four classically trained Swedish cellists who preform original rock music and famous covers of bands like Mettalica.
The Avanlanches - Techno group from Australia. I'd suggest the song "Frontier Psychiatrist" like most of their songs is basically one big bunch of really wierd samples that all find some way to come together in an awesome way.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Not exactly indie or that unknown, but still I haven't heard from them in a while so here is a reminder.
Bush - My favorite rock group. Gavin Rosdale's voice makes me feel good....down there....yeah.
I'm getting tired so I'm just gonna list the remaining ones with descriptions
Cold
The Concretes
The Crazy World Of Arther Brown - (GET "FIRE")
Da Vinci's Notebook
Delerium
Doves
Enon
Franz Ferdinand
The Get Up Kids
Zero7
The Hives
Joy Drop
Kings of Conveniance
MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE
Rokysopp
Moonpools and Carapillars
Nightwish
Reel Big Fish
Roy Orbison
Snails
Steely Dan
Treble Charger
Two Lone Swordsmen _________________ Bang. |
