Actually those aren't stills, the ones with the black border are video clips.

Final Fantasy XI, HDD Pricing, Release Details

By: D. F. Smith September 16, 2003 10:32 AM PDT
Final Fantasy XI for PlayStation 2 will see release in the United States next March, Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today. As reported in the pages of GMR some months ago, Square Enix's online RPG will come pre-installed on the HDD hard drive peripheral, for a retail price of $99.
After paying that price of admission, players will be obliged to pay $12 per month to maintain a game account, plus one dollar per month for each extra character beyond their default character. The first month of access will be free.

In addition to FFXI, the hard drive will include other software pre-installed, including the latest version of the PlayStationBB Navigator software -- which allows users to browse digital photographs, video, music, and other online content offered by Sony -- and a selection of PS2 game and product demos.

The American HDD will also be able to copy and index CD music, allowing players to create their own personal playlist of tunes on the PlayStation 2.

As is the case with its Japanese counterpart, developers can use the HDD to cache data in certain games and accordingly reduce load times. SCEA's SOCOM II and Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain will also support online content downloads, allowing Sony to release new game levels and other content after their retail release.
