Post subject: One Last Time To Blow Your Mind......

Starting next week, Toonami is going to be showing the Dragonball Chronicles(Or Anthology, I can't remember}. It's 2 Hours of solid DragonBall, DBZ and DBGT. All this leading up to Toonami's move to Saturdays. Can I get some Opinions? _________________ One Last Time, To Blow Your Mind.....

It's fitting. Toonami Weekdays die the way they lived. If it wasn't for DBZ, I HIGHLY doubt anime would be anywhere near as popular as it is now. It pulled me in. And it's what kept Toonami alive, and spawned Adult Swim, SVES, now Miguzi, and all sorts of stuff on other channels.
Love it or hate it, you still have to thank it. _________________ anime is teh s uck

DragonBall has really just worn itself out in my opinion, but this is a good way to end weekdays. Would be cooler if they did a marathon of their older shows though. (assuming they're still allowed to show any of them) _________________ The only truth that realy exists is the truth within the mind of the individual and the way the individual sees the world... |

"the best episodes of all time"
Right...
Maybe they will do that with DBZ but they wont unless they show Gohan VS Cell
They could do it with Dragonball but it looks like it's just tournament stuff for a while
They are just airing GT in order... It's not worth watching twice and if this is the best of the series then dang man the rest must be beyond crappy (I'm sure it isn't great but it's gotta be better than the General Rildo fights).
Talk about your false advertising.
I'll probably watch because I love the franchise but still I would have loved something more risky to help Toonami go out with a bang!
Perhaps...
05:00 - Dragonball Z (Cell Game finale)
05:30 - Yu Yu Hakusho (continues it's run with some premieres at the end)
06:00 - Cyborg 009 (one more time just for kicks)
06:30 - Rurouni Kenshin (Kyoto Arc episodes that Toonami missed before)
A bolder, braver, and better Toonami. _________________ Toonami > sliced cheese (and I really like chees) |

I agree that a lot of us started to watch Toonami because of DBZ. And its not dying just losing the weekday parts we werent watching anyway.
BTW the middle episodes of GT are the best. The beginning third is Dragonball, The middle third is DBZ, the last third is its own thing. BTW if you like Bulma you'll love the middle of GT. She plays a big part |

Aye, tis true most of us more or less teethed on Dragonball... but lest not forget there was a LOT of Gundam in there as well, and I think that it should definately be included in the "last tour" as it were.
Oddly enough, this reminds me of a radio station that I listened to in high school that went defunct. It played Prince's 1999 for 2 days straight before going off air, which we were all completely tired of because:
A) It WAS 1999
B) It wasn't even Prince's best song
Perhaps CN is playing its most overdone series to get everyone away and looking forward to new things? _________________ Sometimes, we forget who we are. |

DBZ was both a blessing and a curse.
The blessing: It popularized anime in America at a much faster exponential rate than any other anime series has done.
The curse: It cemented a stereotypical image in most people's heads that this is pretty much what ALL anime is like.

I gave up on caring about DBZ.... so it really hasn't affected my opinion of anime at all. I know there is much better stuff out there(Unfortunately some of it is under the radar stuff). I really hate that Toonami is going to end Toonami weekday run... I mean they could have put on other fan favs... |

Well at least Toonami weekdays is going out with a bang, rather than a whimper like the Midnight Run did. _________________ There is limited intelligence in the galaxy, but the stupidity of the universe is infinite. |

In all reality it was girls and gundams that brought me into anime. Sailor moon, Gundam Wing and later, Edward...III. While I am proud to say DBZ didn't pull me in, it sill mismorized me for all of the freeza saga. I've watched DB as I catch it on CN, and all of GT fan subbed. I have to say that despite all the bad things brought on by DBZ. It is the sole reason anime has it's name out in the publilc eye. DBZ I solute you.
Now, what I'd like to see for Toonami's big finalie...A reunion show. Show an episode of as many shows Toonami has run in it's life. Hosted by Moltar, all three TOM's, and SARA. That would be wicked sweet. Plus I want more MOON POWER! Besides, if toonami hadn't brought me back to anime. I'd be missint Tokyo Mew Mew and Sailor Moon Live Action! _________________ To do two things at once is to do neither. —Publilius Syrus, Roman slave, first century B.C. |

I think you got that reversed.
Midnight Run DID go out with a bang. Its final schedule broke away from the DB/Z schedule that it held for 9 straight months and became G-Gundam and the return of G.I. Joe. They also gave it a shiny, new format for the TMR promos...the first (and last) time it changed since November 2000.
The weekday run's end...Dragonball reruns and the Pokémon movies? Are you kidding me? They even sacrificed the best show on the block at the moment, Yu Yu Hakusho, and the only thing with new episodes on the block, Astro Boy. I didn't think Williams Street would sink THIS low. Even if Astro Boy went into reruns, that would've been fine with me. The only thing I see worth watching these next few weeks is the Transformers: Energon marathon on April 9. |
