Post subject: Honda Civic LX, or Honda Civic Hybrid?
|
|
|
|
I'm buying a car to replace my crappy '89 Chevy Astro van.
I need to choose between the Honda Civic LX and the Honda Civic Hybrid
Honda Civic LX: $15,000
Honda Civic Hybrid: $19,000
(before tax, etc)
The Hybrid is $4K more, but there's no better way to say "Partially Fuck You" to OPEC than an Electric Hybrid car.
I also get a $2,000 tax deduction and overall much less gas usage.
Study up, and let me know your opinions. _________________ My old sig was too long. |

I'd rather get the Toyota Matrix myself. It runs from 15 to 19 grand and is infinitly cooler than the civic ever could be. _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar

+10 points for getting a Honda
+5 for getting a Civic
+5 more for wanting to give OPEC the finger
Get the hybrid. It'll be best in the long run. But since it's a Civic, you won't loose either way. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

Get the hybrid. The money you save on gas will make up for the larger price tag. _________________ "Robots don't say 'ye'."

That alone would be justification enough. My only concerns would be cost differences in insurance and maintenance. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

You never said that was a problem...by all means, stay within your budgetary limits. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Civics are good cars...I literally have a DOZEN friends that own civics (its the asian curse), and they don't have many problems with their cars; and my dad, whose pretty hardcore American, said he'd possibly buy a Honda as his next car, after working on Hondas frequently when he was a mechanic - so...LX is a good choice, methinks
but the Hybrid would be so cool...don't know a lot about it, but like Nobi, I'd be worried about maintenance - the price for parts for that thing could be outrageous, and hard to come by |

The battery has a 8 year warranty, protecting against deteriorating capacity too.
3 year bumper-to-bumper on both cars. _________________ My old sig was too long. |

Good choice with the Honda. I love my mother's Accord.
I'd say, if you can spring the extra, get the hybrid. It gets better gas mileage (although Civics are usually among the top anyway), you get the tax deduction, and it's INFINITELY cooler. _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.
