Transformers: Energon will take place 10 years after Armada and it'll have no kids in it.
That's all we know so far. |

Energon is supposed to be a mix of cel-shading and 2D animation.
And the rest of you might want to consider this post a spoiler.

After his defeat in Armada, Unicron strikes a deal with Galvatron: reactivate him(Uni)with a rare substance called Energon, and they'll recieve untold power. To help the Decepticons, Unicron upgrades them into new forms. Ironically enough, Galvy's upgrade makes him Megatron again, but now he looks ilke the G1 Galvatron. Most of the other Decepticons have new looks as well, although I've seen repaints of the Armada figures.
Almost all the Autobots are new figures though. The only repaint is Overload, who's now called Ultra Magnus. All of the non-Optimus figures, who now have Ironhide and Inferno in their ranks, can combine with another Autobot, a "Powerlink" partner, ala Jet Convoy. The name of the combined robot depends on who forms the upper body.
Example: Hot Shot+Inferno= Powerlink Hot Shot: Inferno+Hot Shot= Powerlink Inferno. So far it looks like Optimus and Jetfire aren't compatible anymore.
Optimus sports another new feature that seperates himself from his counterparts, the first was his trailer that tranformed by itself. He now combines with four mini-vehicles stored in his trailer. That's right, the third Optimus Prime is now a Megazord.

Breaking that down a bit. Energon was what fueled the Transformers. And what they, G1 and G2, turned every concievable energy source into using energon cubes.
Ultra Magnus, for those who dont know, was a white Optimus toy with a different trailer. He was also the second in command with Ironhide. Which will be interesting to see what they do with Ironhide since the style of van he was isnt really made anymore. _________________ Certified Narutard |

Ironhide
Look, in the background, a Quientesson!
Also, the Diaclone version of Magnus, named "Powered Convoy" was blue.
For those who are really lost, the original Transformers toy line-up was made of two Japanese toy lines called "Diaclone" and "Microman." Diaclone featured vehicles that became robots piloted by humans(the Autobots and maybe a few Decepticons) while Microman featured everyday objects that became mini robots(the opposite of Diaclone). When Hasbro saw the potential behind the two lines, they decided to bring them stateside as one series, and gave them a back story.

Being an all-time fan of Transformers, I'm glad to see that they appear to be making a GOOD new series. All the series' that have come out since Beast Machines finished have stunk _________________ The only truth that realy exists is the truth within the mind of the individual and the way the individual sees the world... |
