I bought one of these.
Mainly because of the bleeding-edge mystery-box feel I'll get, and to be first on the block to be testing it and finding out what really makes it tick.
...and the fact that it's pretty cheap.

I fought for awhile trying to justify/not justify buying it.
My girlfriend in tears over the PPC -> Intel switch was the final push.

I am looking forward to dissecting and experimenting on my new box.

You have way too much time on your hands, that and a GF that will let you get away with doing anything with your money.

For $999 Apple ships you a machine with

1ghz Intel Celeron
4GB HD
128 MB RAM
Integrated Intel Graphics Extreme
Integrated AU97 sound

It would be a ripoff if it wasn't a lie.

You get...
3.6GHz Pentium 4
...and other stuff. Most likely 2GB of RAM like Steve's machine and a nice video card to do the CoreImage fun stuff that was demo'd.

Here are the pictures:

No shoehorning was necessary :p
