I would say my absolute favorites would be either Night on Bald Mountain or the Firebird Suite.

Hmmm.... I'll go with something pretty old here Maison Ikkoku. From what I've seen anyway. I'm a sucker for the old stuff....

As always, I pick Saishuu-Heiki Kanouju for best, with Ah! My Goddess: the Movie in second.

I've seen NGE too many times to like it much anymore. It's still incredible, but it lost so much of its aura of awesomness during the third viewing. I'd really like to make a case for the still-airing, Full Metal Alchemist. It's kind of like Trigun, except more awesome. It may not be the best there is, but it's deffinately the best thing since Azumanga Daioh and Saikano.
I'm still going to have to go with Saikano for best anime ever, but the Ah! My Goddess movie, Cowboy Bebop movie, FMA, and Read or Dream/Die fill out my top 5.

The Vision of Escaflowne - has everything, romance, mechas, fantasy, dragons, cute guys, cute girls, great music, on of the first animes to use digital animation in places. just perfect for a girl like me.

Second I guess is Cowboy bebop I guess.

Interesting I always go for Yoko Kanno soundtracked ones...wait...here's a great one: Nadesico!

I still insist that Escaflowne is the best background music ever, and the anime itself is just awesome. It gets #3, because it's very damn hard to overcome my AMG fanboyism.

Bebop is good, but I no longer consider it of extreme excellence. That's just me, though.

My personal favorite is Cowboy Bebop, but I also think that Kenshin and NGE are amazing.
