Adult Swim is on Sunday...and Adult Swim is better than Toonami. Why, you may ask? Because of the "Adult" bit.
But, I remember way back when Toonami was on Saturday mornings. It was called "Toonami: Rising Sun" But, I never remember it being on Sundays. _________________ Comic | Wallpapers | Art | Music |

No. SVES wasn't even born yet when the Rising Sun was around. You're thinking of the original Saturday Adult Swim Action block.
Also, on December 8, 2002, Toonami held a special 3-hour Transformers: Armada marathon from 1-4PM. |

I believe Toonami once had a Sunday afternoon slot but I don't remember when. It was back when Toonami had Robotech and Voltron and stuff. _________________ Toonami > sliced cheese (and I really like chees) |

I've been wondering this. Did the name "The Rising Sun" have any of a throwback reference to how Japan is called "The Land of the Rising Sun"? since it had anime and all.. _________________ Banging on the floors of random warehouses. Sounds like fun to me. - Yusuke |

I'd say so, especially with the logo used, which resembled a WW2 Japanese battle flag.
But primarily because it was a Saturday morning (e.g. "sunrise") block, and also the direct play-on-words regarding the Japanese animation. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Not all of the Rising Sun's programming was Japanese, though. The original Rising Sun in 2000, in addition to anime, had Thundercats, Batman, and The Powerpuff Girls and the 2002 revival was entirely American (Superman and Batman). |
Oh, I realize that. There's also the original play on words of Toonami/Tsunami, when Toonami originally started with a mixture of American and Japanese animation programming. "Rising Sun" just follows along in that vein. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Nope I mean it was on Sunday afternoons. I could very easily be wrong but I remember something to that affect. _________________ Toonami > sliced cheese (and I really like chees) |
