Post subject: From the front page: 'One Piece' to get the Reboot

A year and a half ago, I asked if lightning could strike twice.
The answer is apparently "Yes!"
Pirates are the new Z Fighters, as they should be. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

At first, I thought Toonami picking up One Piece back in '05 was a bad idea. I thought CN was just letting 4Kids continue to infect the network like a virus. It'd just be business as normal.
But I was honestly NOT expecting the domino effect to slowly topple over 4Kids and into the favor of the fans. Now I retract my statement.
Toonami, if your acquisition of this franchise was somehow indirectly (maybe even unintentionally) responsible for this change in weather, I thank you wholeheartedly. Now the show is getting uncut, bilingual season boxsets, a (hopefully) better dub cast, and lighter edits on the TV edits. It all looks uphill from here.
But there's just one minor detail that irks me: Sanji still has to "smoke" a lollipop. Now, smoking is considered taboo on kids programming (even on some teen blocks), so I wouldn't normally be bothered by this. They gotta keep their boundaries within the broadcast standards. It's common, so no biggie. But instead of keeping the lollipop, it'd be better if they just phased it out completely. No one wants a mind-inducing reminder of Kahn's influence on this series after this whole thing blows over. Pirates don't eat freakin' LOLLIPOPS, and the interview states that they're deediting it to a PG-level rating. What's wrong with this picture?
Just spare us the pain, FUNi. We'll understand. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015 |

This is quite unexpected. For a while, I really thought the entire One Piece anime saga would stay in Japan. Now I'll be able to enjoy the story without having to rip my ears out afterwards. _________________ "No, I told you that your posts showed that you lacked intelligence. Amazing I was thinking the same thing.. I like the way Sanji's acting was, or maybe I just got used to it O.o.
As for the lollipop. Only truly hardcore extreme pirates smoke lollipops!
Now if only they would change Louis's voice in Blood+ ... because he is not Jamaican dammit.
If these new changes to Onepiece are actually good, I just might buy the dvd's. _________________ FFXI: Heavens Redmage. Level 75

Saito had a morphing toothpick/cigarette thing going on during his appearances in Rurouni Kenshin on Toonami/SVES. Would that work in this case? _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

While the toothpick looks better, they left that toothpick smoking in one of the episodes.. which looked really weird. I still think lollipops and pirates go together better. One thing they could do, to keep it in the guidelines is keep the cigarette but not have it lit. _________________ FFXI: Heavens Redmage. Level 75

Question: Why can Asuma smoke on Naruto, but our favorite version of Brock can't?
Answer: Toonami is predjudiced against fighting, pirate, chefs from New York!
Anyone have a better explanation? Please do. _________________ "Never confuse being lazy with being apathetic. Lazy people are not apathetic. Apathetic people don't care about anything. Lazy people care, they just don't do anything about it."-Garfield |

I don't think Asuma's cig is actually lit. Nor do they ever show him actually smoking it. |
