Alright Superman- Doomsday. Bruce Timms take on the Death of Superman in 70 minutes. Including Kevin Smith making fun of the Superman 5 script that he wrote.
"Do you need Superman to kill a mechanical spider"?
The animation is later Bruce Timm DCAU. The voice actors are B list actors but do a decent enough job. There are some plot holes. But overall its not to bad.
It really needed to be stretched out further though and Doomsday is a bit player at best in it. Plus we revisit the "Will they ever trust you again". And whats the deal with the robot at the fortress?
I give it a 3 Batman Beyonds out out of 4. Compared to the last Superman animated movie though this stands on its own and isnt nearly that awful. But does introduce a slightly different take on Lex again. Plus the voice is very different.
What did the rest of you think?

I thought it was OK, but I still don't get why they didn't just use the original voice actors(even though it's supposed to have it's own continuity, it wouldn't have mattered). As for the story, I thought it was probably a better fit in the original graphic novel. As it stands now, it felt like Superman was mildly inconvenienced, not "dead". I also thought it was kind of stupid to leave out Steel and Superboy completely(in the comic, fake Superman didn't come out right after Superman "died" like the movie), considering that they were basically the only line of defense for Metropolis. It was OK, though I think this whole DCU animated movie push would've had a much better start with an adaption of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns or Kingdom Come. _________________ "No, I told you that your posts showed that you lacked intelligence. Kingdom Come would be good fodder for a movie. But you would have to keep it dark. As for Dark Knight pieces of it have appeared in Tim Burtons vision of the Dark Knight as well as the latest Batman movie. Also an episode of Batman:TAS had an animated piece of it.
Its far to short at seventy minutes though. It didnt give a feel for people even caring. Plus Doomsday was in it for what 5 minutes?

Doomsday was barely there at all. The fight(which was heavily hyped) didn't even last for more than 3 minutes(it seemed)! To me, the movie was more about "dark" Superman, which was pretty disappointing. And it sure was easy for Lex to clone Superman, wasn't it? _________________ "No, I told you that your posts showed that you lacked intelligence. Well, he's "Lex Luthor, Suu-pah Genius" here... I mean he had the cure for cancer, after all! _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis
