Post subject: Bandwidth Shortage

Damn, I remember a time when TDA had it's bandwidth doubled and didn't know what to do with itself . . . We might need to brace for impact for when Naruto actually starts to air. By the way, do the ads pay for the entire site, Tyler? You haven't asked for money since their inception, so I assume that means yes . . .
Anyway, I just had to point out my favorite letter from that whole mess on the current TDA homepage. I don't know why it's my favorite, but it just made me laugh out loud:

Monthly bills: $89
Monthly ad revenue: ~$60
I'd rather pay 30 bucks a month than beg for peoples' money.
Guess when Naruto was announced:
March is One Piece month. After that, things should go back to normal.
Hopefully. _________________ My old sig was too long. |

I'd say "use BitTorrent" but I know that it either have no effect or Satan himself would destroy the server. _________________ Able and Baker is nice. |

I don't know. Bit torrent seems all the rage these days. The only question at that point would be to decided how to package things. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

When TDA dies, it will be packaged up in a single torrent and let loose on the internet.
I'm not running a tracker with 2,000 torrents...and I'm not seeding 2,000 torrents at the same time...and I know all too well that nobody's gonna stay on their vt-intro.mov torrent for more than 2 minutes. _________________ My old sig was too long. |

Tyler, I do hope that Vasoline was involved with all that at some point. _________________ Proud creator of the Wikipedia RX-78 mobile suit series article.

Well, I thought maybe only the recently added movies would be available via BitTorrent. I assume that the new additions are the most downloaded, but I could be wrong. _________________ Able and Baker is nice. |

For things like the Naruto avalanche or the Loonatics clip, BitTorrent would've made a big difference. Hell, I could've seeded off my cable modem.
But new stuff or not, the TDA Network still pushes about 30GB/day. _________________ My old sig was too long. |
