Post subject: Premiere Talkback: Naruto: Shippuden
Toonami kicks off a new year with Naruto: Shippuden, the sequel to the hit series Naruto, now uncut after migrating from its previous broadcaster, Disney XD.
Since the original Naruto is restarting at episode 1 and you probably don't want to rewatch several years' worth of programming (this series is 220 episodes, after all), this thread is going to have UNMARKED SPOILERS for the remainder of the series. You have been warned.
Over the course of the original Naruto, Sasuke was cursed by the villainous Orochimaru, causing him to defect from the Hidden Leaf Village while he seeks revenge on his brother, who killed his own clan years ago. Naruto and his friends launched a mission to retrieve Sasuke, but failed. Shippuden takes place two years later, during the time which Naruto had trained with Jiraiya and they'd learned information about the Akatsuki, a shadowy organization who has been lurking in the shadows during the first series.
