Post subject: BEST. GAME. EVER?

as some of you may know, gamefaqs.com has been doing a bracket for the last few months pitting 64 of the so-called "greatest" games against each other and having the people vote for what they think is the best...as it stands right now, it's looking like the finals will pit chrono trigger against final fantasy vii, and given the history of past contests, it's looking like ff7 will take the prize...
however, looking back to the elite eight, there are quite a few gems which i'm sure some would say is their "best game ever"...so i submit to the infolink community a simple question: if this were a straight vote of the eight finalists, which would go down as your best. game. ever? _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

Gotta go with the very first 3D Zelda. Still playing it today on my collectors edition disc. _________________ The only truth that realy exists is the truth within the mind of the individual and the way the individual sees the world... |

Melee gets my vote. I can tell you that it probably has more play time around the world combined than any game after the SNES.
These contests always seem so silly anyway; it always comes down to a Square game at the end.
Personally, I'd nominate Majoura's Mask (but I know very few would agree with me). It's the most copelling story I've ever seen, with a lot of really neet mechanics to it, and an amazing level of complexity for such a simple concept. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

What no Shining Force? No Lunar? Phfft, then my vote has to go to SMB3. |

Of course Andro, no one will ever vote for underrated and overlooked RPGs. Of course i'll have to pick a square game, but it's Super Mario RPG, why? Because it was my first RPG and still one of the greatest. _________________ There is limited intelligence in the galaxy, but the stupidity of the universe is infinite. |

Of the choices, I have to go with the NES Legend of Zelda. Such a great game in so many ways, and it's the one that started the whole series.
However, my favorite game of all time is Bubble Bobble (NES). The plot makes absolutely no sense in the best kind of way. And with 99 levels (and a slew of secret levels) it's damn addicting. Best game ever.
I like old school games ^_^ _________________ anime is teh s uck

I certainly would. Majora surpasses Ocarina in all ways save that it only has four dungeons. _________________ The only truth that realy exists is the truth within the mind of the individual and the way the individual sees the world... |

If Lunar 2: Eternal Blue was on there, it'd have my vote. So I'll just go with Chrono Trigger. |

If Legend of Zelda is up there, then Fire Emblem has to be equally suitable. Therefore, i vote for Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. Yes, its immediate predecessor had genetics, but this game beats teh pants off of it in every other way. It's longer, it's harder, it's more complex, the story is better (or so I'm told), and there's a hell of a lot more options for your characters.
Best features: picking up of units, item transfer, and the human gets almost everything the comp does. Also, people say the story rocks. I can't judge until it gets translated or I can read Kanji. _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.

yea, of the games on the list, the only ones i've played through completely are mario 3, zelda nes, and ff7 (i never did beat zelda ocarina of time and i'm currently playing through chrono trigger)...ff7 was great, but one has to respect the originals, and despite my love of the original zelda, i doubt i'll ever experience a game with a similar impact that mario 3 had on me, so that gets my vote... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')
