I was surfin through the channels this afternoon and came across an anime being played on MTV2, yes MTV2.
I watched it trying to figure out if I knew what it was but truns out i didn't. It was this anime called Heat Guy J.
It was awesome.
The animation seems to be from the same studio as Vision of Escaflowne because the character's faces looks identical.
Anywasys, yeah I don't kow if any one else has seen tis or posted about it but it's a really cool anime with very cool action.
Ask more here but I'm tired and will post again tomorrow.

well, perhaps we can salvage this as a discussion thread on the series, since talks on cartoons have been somewhat quiet as of late...
after watching the first three episodes, i'm liking what i'm seeing thus far...daisuke reminds me a little bit of gene starwind in his caring-but-not-showing-it attitude and j's had his moments already...both voice actors sound great too, so things are only looking up...
it figures that mtv would put this on mtv2, which is the only station that comes in fuzzy on my television, so while the art looks good, i can't really see it clearly...still, as long as i can catch it, i'll be sure to give the whole series a look... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

The show is really awesome but I have a question, is it mean to be a widescreen show because it looks stretched. It's full screen on TV but I think MTV2 did something to it and made it wierd. Anybody else agree or have a reason? _________________ Just A Humble Master

This anime, in my opinion at least, is really cool. Even though something about Vampire creeps me out...
Oh well, J is still really cool. _________________ The only truth that realy exists is the truth within the mind of the individual and the way the individual sees the world... |

I've heard MTV2 squashed it horizontally, and cut the original OP...
From Kyle Pope's edit list:

Well it's obvious what we have to look forward to here. The show's harsh language, violence and vices remained intact. The edits made to the show were purely for time. It's the same thing that Tech TV is doing with Anime Unleashed. While my preference is for unedited anime I can understand content edits based up broadcast guidelines. Second to anime that turns up on premium channels I prefer how Cartoon Network handles its anime acquisitions in that it doesn't edit out anything it doesn't have to. If an anime can be run in its entirety that's how CN will run it (save the dropping of the OPs). Also Heat Guy J is a widescreen presentation on DVD. You can see in MTV's presentation that the image was horizontally compressed giving the visuals an unnaturally elongated appearance. |

which is exactly why I enjoy having an HD digital cable box, I can set channels to either zoom, stretch, or have side boxes. Their verticle projection can not stop me! MLAHAHAHAHA! |

just saw the most recent episode this morning, the one in which daisuke and j go underground to get dais's pendant back (episode 7 i think)...j's quickly become one of my favorite anime characters with his "a man should..." comments that come up from time to time, and seeing the wolf guy with the sword (i'm terrible with names) come back at the end was a nice touch...
admittedly, it was kinda weird to have an episode without that leonelli kid, but i didn't miss that annoying laugh of his one bit... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

i dunno if anyone here is still watching, but i really liked one of the more recent episodes involving the son of the famous blues musician...it's rare that a buildup to the climax gets my complete attention, but i thought this particular episode was beautifully done...
now to see if i can track down that blues tune somewhere... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

2 guitars, mid-tempo? Might be "Midtown Blues" off the OST.
I can't see the show to know which music you mean. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis
