vash is hired by some rich guy to protect his monopoly on the water supply of a town...the insurance girls, believing the assassin is actually vash the stampede, stay at the house and earn their share doing chores...we're introduced to a lady guest who's staying at the house who turns out to be the law in disguise...while she fails to bring down the rich guy, vash shows some more of his "skill", ending his reign though unleashing all of the contained water in the process...
more comedy goodness here...i especially liked when the topic of drawing mariann's curtain and vash's reaction came up (especially his laugh, how can you keep a straight face hearing that?)...tomorrow's episode actually reminds me of why it's probably better to have the show on this block (effectively meaning i'll finally shut up over that issue)

So it turns out that I'm going to be away from home over my April Vacation. I can only tape 2 of teh 3 shows that I want to (seeing as how I'm the only one in my familt who can operate the VCR). So I have to choose between Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Trigun . . . girrr _________________ anime is teh s uck

I've been following the Digital Arsenal for a little while now. I didn't see the forums. But it is nice to have some other fanatics to rant to.
End of introduction
Trigun is my second favorite anime next to only Cowboy Bebop. I agree the first 13 episodes are completely different then the last 12. Im trying to fiqure out which character doesnt fit Toonami. Must be Wolfwood. Don't want to give any spoilers away. Though I am glad now that I finally saw the final episodes that it doesnt end (well almost anyway) like Bebop.
Glad to see Big O second seasons coming to Cartoon Network to. I hate to be left hanging like that. I wasnt raised on DBZ. More like Robotech action here. Which leads to this last line. With Robotech being 85 episodes why arent they showing it anymore? I have all the DVD's. But today's kids need to see where it all started. Well the one after Star Blazers at least.

wednesday night:
after a run-in with a drunkard, vash is "convinced" to buy the guy some alcohol and hang around with him...it's here we find that the man was actually a great gunsmith, who helped save the town in the past...unfortunately, a tragic incident led to the death of his wife and kid, and when he found out that it was his gun that did it, he shut himself off from the world, becoming the man we see him as now...
meanwhile, a band of criminals come by to rob an armored car, with the leader claiming to be vash the stampede...vash takes him on alone, convincing the townspeople to draw their weapons (made from the gunsmith) to defend their city...seeing this, the gunsmith sneaks up behind the criminal and convinces him to run off...the town celebrates and vash once again drinks too much...
this episode succeeded in keeping its humor despite introducing a serious theme, and i think it worked out well...i got a good laugh seeing the insurance girls helping out the criminal they believed was vash, hoping to get on his good side for their job...a solid episode overall _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

I hate to sound like an ass, but I don't (personally) like the older japanese animation. I mean, I'm a fan of Looney Toons and old Disney movies and such (minus Scooby Doo, moreso for the plot than the animation), but for some reason, old anime seems very choppy and hurts my eyes.
As for Trigun, I'm really liking it. And Vash finally DIDN'T trash a city! ^_^ Vash reminds me of Kenshin, only goofy rather than calm anf funloving. So I guess I'm going to have to tape only Kenshin and Trigun while I'm away. Gah, too many good shows at once. Not fair. Cuz then you KNOW we're going to get a period with like, NOTHING new. _________________ anime is teh s uck

You don't sound like an ass. You sound like someone who diesn't like crap. Most older anime is really quite bad and actually certain things that make the old stuff bad still exsists in anime today (like the 3 cel walk/run cycles).
The old WB and Disney cartoons were done by people who wanted to put out the best they could possibly do and it showed. The Disney/WB animators pioneered 99% of teh animation techniquest hat are still used today all over the world.
The only thing Hanna Barberra and Scooby Doo were really any good for was that without them Television animation would have died out completely in the 70's. without names, this is gonna sound really bad, but here goes...
we run into the insurance girls caught in the middle of a hostage situation, though the actual hostage of importance appears to be the daughter of a rich man, who i think was the mayor or something of the town (can't quite remember)...vash walks into the bar unknowingly, becoming another hostage in the situation...the sheriff brings in some unusual, trigger-happy people to save the mayor's daughter, which vash is able to foil in his nonchalant way...the hostage situation winds down with a painful revelation: the instigator of the whole thing is trying to get back at the mayor for the death of his parents years ago...luckilly, he doesn't take his life in his anger, but the sheriff shows his colors in attempting to kill everyone to obtain the mayor's power...despite appearing to unarm everyone, meryl helps save the day, leading to one of the best sequences ever:
vash: ...repeat after me...'the world is made...'
sheriff: the...world is...
vash: "the world is made of..."
sheriff: the world is made of...?
vash: LOVE AND PEACE!
another episode with that right balance of comedy and seriousness...vash's antics while in the bar were continuously hilarious and there was an interesting revelation about the later half of the series that i didn't notice my first time through, which is something i thought was really cool...the plot itself was good as well, as we learn a bit more about vash and who he is... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

Trigun is a great series. Only draw back is that it dosn't have re-watchability. At least thats what I think. But Vash and Wolfwood are the best duo I've prob. ever seen.
Oh, does anybody kinda get the feeling that Wolfwood = Spike...

I think it's defenetly re-watchible, the only problem with this show is the previews of the next episode. Half the time you don't know what it's about and it's WAY to poetic. Other then that it's the best thing on AS.

Okay lets start with the episode with the gunsmith. Although I think its a good episode. My problem lies with plot continuity from later on in the series. How to say this without spoilers. The gun isn't normal and shouldn't have been repairable but a normal gunsmith. One like Frank should have worked on it and gone "Um.. I cant fix this. Can you please leave the town". Which btw is one of the few times I have a problem with plot lines not following along. Triguns good for keeping things in check.
Moving on to old Japanese anime. I can watch Star Blazers and enjoy the style of animation. I can even watch Lupid the Third and like it. The reason Robotech/Macross (Keep in mind only the first series in our Robotech trilogy) is because of the level of detail that the attack scenes have drawn into them. So if they did a little clean up and brighten up all those scenes darkened by aging. It wouldn't be so old looking. This does not apply to Speed Racer or a lot of other older anime like the original Gundam 0079. I like the original Gundam because I'm a fan of the series. And thats why its watchable.
Now lets move to Akira one of the newer styles of animes. Well newer then Robotech/Macross and star blazers. I really don't feel that its aged that well. It looks all the years old it is. The closest thing to the way Akira would look today is to watch Batman Beyond's first season or the movie (well the uncut one at least). That would show you how akira would look if drawn today.
Everyone looks for different things in animation American or Japanese. I look for mech warfare that I can pause with a DVD and go "Wow look at the nuts and bolts on that Veritech". Some look for facial features that expressive.
Oh well sorry this went a little longer then I expected.
