Think about it...

The dictionary defines Communism as:

A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.
Communism
A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.
The Marxist-Leninist version of Communist doctrine that advocates the overthrow of capitalism by the revolution of the proletariat.

and Democracy as:

Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives.
A political or social unit that has such a government.
The common people, considered as the primary source of political power.
Majority rule.
The principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community.

so if people's rights are respected why do we arrest them for protesting...

so think about it: we got "Red Light Cameras" to catch people in their cars.

Communism was a system of Gov. ran by the Gov.
No people we don't have (out of control rulez) set up by the Government.
we got small housing associations to control how many flamingo ordiments are on OUR yard.

we cant drive without permision
cant build a porch without permision

Who need's the Big Man tellin' us wut to do
we got PISS ANTs doing their jobs

Look up socialism. Then think about welfare and social security. As well as national health care reform. We are not truly a democracy. We are a republic if I remember my social studies class.

In reality, we are a schizophrenic, split-personality fascist state. I will illustrate by quoting myself.

Fascism - the art of keeping oneself in power
Democracy - the art of pitting two fascists against each other

Now, look at political parties, and see if you can find the connection.

America is not a democracy. Not a true one anyway. We are officially a Democratic Republic. I forget exactly what that means, but I do know we aren't a true Democracy.

Countries.com lists every single detail of every country in the world, including government type, economic standards, what the flag looks like and represents, etc.

According to this site, the USA's government type is listed as a "federal republic with a strong democratic tradition."

How to reply...

America is one of the most underpoliced nations in the world. We as a people dont want to see our police or law enforcment in our daily lives. But we demand that they be there the second we need them. This is just an american way of looking at things. As the Ministry for Homeland Defense gets bigger you will see this turn around as we get used to seeing military and police in our daily lives. Whens the last time you were at an airport and thought about how odd it was that you saw a soldier with an unloaded M16?

What about the homeless? Well international politics are important to the american federal goverment. And are really placed first on the list of things to take care of. Its the state and local levels that have more to do to change this problem. But this isnt a reason that our republic does or doesnt work. If you feel its an issue elect people who are on a platform to change it. Or work towards making sure the work and training centers are staffed and people are actually using them. Part of being a true american is volunteering to see things get fixed. That or being the voice of the less fortunate if you have the means to be listened to.

Why are people getting killed and the police are more concerned with pulling over speeders? You know thats a big question. But it comes down to something I said at the top. If you want the police to stop the murderers before they do their act. Then you will need to see a cop on every street corner who has the right to arrest on site with no good reason why. Part of having freedoms is the price you pay for them. Then why get speeders? Two reasons, income, and the fact theres no chance they will get tied up in the courts. I mean if your doing 85 in a 55 your guilty and not likely to fight it.

Concerning cheating welfare a democrat president, Clinton, of all people did more for welfare reform in his term then many of the presidents before him. There are time limits now on how long you can be on it and the breeding bonuses have been stopped. So its no longer a benefit to have 5 kids over 2. Welfares a large scale issue that, in my feeble little mind, I feel is something pushing us toward socialism. And it needs to be fixed. To many people on the payroll. Not enough to pay for it.

Why so many certified specialists are unemployed? MCSE's and CCNA's in your example. Two problems its easy to get certs (Im MCP, A+, Network+, Server+, I-net+, Compaq ACT, Dell DCSE and Star HDA) leading to an overabundance of certified americans. And second is this wonderful little program called H-1B Visas. Look it up. Thats a whole other issue. Feel free to ask but be ready for people to get into an argument over it.

(steps off soap box)

Krogoth is from Las Vegas. That's why I said "Directed to Krogoth". To you, I asked "What?" because I had no clue what you were talking about.

You said it yourself. We live within certain boundaries. We have a government to ensure that other people do not overstep into our boundaries.

Gee, cuz, maybe, I don't know, it's easier to catch a speeding car then to find what someone is doing in a back room somewhere. Police aren't all lazy bastards you know.

People abuse every system. You can't condemn the whole system because a few people take advantage of it. To stop Welfare would be to screw many people that actually need it, just to stop a few people's abuse.

Because the economy is weird. And not controlled by the government directly. Sure they control interest rates and such, but they don't say "You, hire people now."

Stupidity. On many people's parts.

Thus is the downside to progress. The powerful get more powerful and the powerless get more powerless. It's not the governmetn's fault. It's society's.

How does plumbers having less work = big brother? It doesn't. You know why Home Depot is so big and so powerful? Because they are helpful. They have what you need when you need it with people who either can direct you in how you can get it done or help you do it for you. We had our downstairs refloored, we were going to do tile but were told by them that since we had to replace out old floor due to waterdamage certain problems will arise and that we should either go with carpet or well carpet as it was the flooring solution with the least ammount of problems. Guess what? It was also the cheapest, while they want your money they also most of all want you to be happy. Plumbers on the other hand for the most part feel they're above you (like anyone who has specialized talents) and you NEED them. You don't call a plumber just for the hell of it; no, you call them when something is wrong. So lay off the depot before it comes over and asks if you need help finding anything biznatch.

As for Dell and the replace instead of upgrade.... Dell is mainly bought by people who realize they need a computer but don't know how to put one together or even how the innards even look. Dell knows this so they took a page from teh automotive industry and have people trading their old '94 models for brand spankin new '03's with a wicked green paint job and a retractable spoiler/cooling fan. Most of america doesn't know how to upgrade their computers; 99% of people who upgrade their ram have the store install it for them. Almost nobody who knows how to install a cd-rom, ram, zipdrive, hdd, whatever will buy a dell or a gateway or whatever unless their lazy like me.

Everything else Fodder answered pretty much exactly how I would have only with a nicer tone and less sarcasm.
