You know what's weird? I cannot remember ever encountering my phobias, or even being in a position to.
Except for falling, but I don't consider it a phobia so much as organs not designed to be supported from any direction except up. _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.

I hate to bring this thread back to a debate between creationism and evolution (okay, I skipped to the last page from 1, so sue me), but I have plenty of evidence against evolution if you want to hear it. Or start a new thread. |

You can post whatever you want, but you'll be wrong. There is no contradiction between Evolution and Creation. Who's to say that God did not guide evolution? How can you be sure that God did not control the process? Would you be so arrogant as to say that God did NOT? Cuz I know I wouldn't.
But post any evidence you want. Krogoth and I should enjoy. _________________ anime is teh s uck

At the moment, this thread has no real direction, so Bring It, tough guy! _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.

How does a lobotomy work? Does it cause or prevent insanity? _________________ "I hope you haven't become too attached to your head, because in about two seconds it will be festively decorating that back wall." |

A. They used to stick a couple of pointy things through your eye sockets and into your brain, and then swirl them around to mix up your frontal lobe. I think they just open your forehead and take out a chunk of brain nowadays.
B. Yes. _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.

lobotamies have been proven not to prevent or fix insanity. I'm pretty sure they don't lobotomize anymore. The only times they remove juicy brain chunks is when it is medically called for (if a steel construction spike gets lodged in your head, if you survive, they will remove the spike and certain damaged portains of the brain) _________________ "Veni. *Tosses a cookie to the Krogoth* Mean? That wasn't mean, that was clever. How many 6 year olds do you know that know the word 'lobotomy'.
Know what? Don't answer that. Knowing you, you probably know 5 or so 6 year olds that could define it . . .
And what happened to Robram and his 'evidence'? He always leaves just when I want him to tell us something! ERG!!!! _________________ anime is teh s uck

A quick guess, but I assume irrational fears stem from a rather large impact on your subconscious mind. The subconscious will associate something as bad from having a negative experience, or having been told of an experience's negativity. This gets ingrained and is hard to remove. Just a guess, though.
And I hate to revive a dead horse so that it may be beaten again, but I have a perfectly logical explanation for even modern fight/flight: muscle memory is generally less fallable than mental memory. It accesses more quickly and more precisely. It also ups your associative and other subconscious and superconscious thought processis(sp?) a bit, allowing for a little thinking on your feet, at least on the physical, "where do I move now" level. The adrenal boost is also a favorative boon, but that's a separate system (unless, possibly, if adrenaline screws with your brain temporarily).
My proof: Dance Dance Revolution. It's only when the adrenaline kicks ina and you consciously give up that you throw in that extra burst that lets you finish the song (or you could bar rape for the same effect, I suppose). _________________ This space left intentionally blank.
