I love fighting about Gundam Wing. I got into a technical battle over the design specifications of Death Scythe Hell vs the Death Scythe Hell Custom that lasted for two or three pages. The arguments went clear down to the mounting points of the 'wings' and the crystal structure of Gundanium.

Anyway, I don't want to go off on a rant... but WHY doesn't anyone talk about the current lineup? There've been new episodes of 5 Toonami series the past three weeks (Rave Master, Teen Titans, Megas, YYH and DBGT). The only series getting any discussion is Gundam SEED, and it isn't even on Saturday nights anymore.
If the lineup was all reruns, you'd be complaining that WS isn't serious about trying to build a better Toonami.
So WS goes out and buys new shows (and episodes) to show they're serious about Toonami's future, then you don't even watch them.
And on top of that, you start crying about bringing back reruns of the old shows.
So, how in the hell do you expect to increase viewership when you're demonstrating to WS that you'll never be happy with whatever they try to do?
But that's just my opinion... I could be wrong. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Be careful what you ask for Nobu or you end up with things like Super Milk Chan.

Thats just human nature. We are never satisfied and we always want more of something new that we might not even like.

Personally I love gundam wing. But I only saw the series a total of 2 full runs though toonami. While Frieza saga aired countless times. I cannot tell you the first time I watched toonami. If I had to give it a time I would say late 1999 early 2000. I stopped watching it when they put in PPG over anime. I don't know, the older shows seemed to have so much more meaning then these new shows. Even shows not to cartoon network: transformers, digimon, and escaflowna.
I think the point I am trying to make (which would take a long time) is that cartoon network brings back older shows all the time. GI Joe for example. Why not bring back gundam wing for a season. The newer peeps to toonami have probably have not seen it and would enjoy it. Granted it is a long series... but not nearly as long as DBZ.

Bad example. It was picked up and scheduled for the old Midnight Run, hoping to draw in older viewers (they don't expect many kids to be interested in '80s shows) and even then it couldn't pull in enough ratings to keep it on the air. I think it was eventually exiled to Boomerang.

1) See above. Old shows do not bring in large enough ratings to justify the expense of renewing the license...
2) ...assuming the video company wants to renew in the first place. You'll notice DBZ is off the air and has been for a while; that's because FUNimation is more interested in pimping DB GT, including the so-called "lost episodes" they skipped during the first run-through. Same with Bandai, as I asserted in another thread:
Quote:
As for picking them back up, keep in mind that to Bandai and CN:
Wing, G-Gundam, UC series = Old and busted
SEED = new hotness
As far as not liking the shows CN premieres every week over the shows that had been rerun endlessly years ago, that's a personal problem. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Good points Nobu. Honestly, Gundam Wing had a good run. It got me interested in the whole Gundam universe and for that I owe this series alot. That being said, I honestly would like to see it run sometime again, even if it gets a saturday morning slot of 1 AM. Then again, I do have a torrent for eps 1-49 so I might just save CN the money to renew it.

Anytime i go back and look at a wing episode it really does show its age.
Nobu - Yes it was exiled to Boomerang. Which sadly has been the reason i have been watching it lately. Its on at some really weird hours. And the show has held up to the test of time far better then the new GI Joe 3D ever could. The plots are so much deeper then i remember as a kid. Long live Boomerang giving me back my childhood from the 70's to the late 80's.
Oh yeah and showing me how bad some of it was tp. Watched Sky commanders yet? Or how the use of the word "Power Extreme!" can be traced back to an 80's character with a bad 70's porn mustache.
Going further on about Boomerang. When CN premiered it had all those old bad Hanah Barbara programs that are now on Boomerang. But as they add the newer 80's shows they get pushed back. But Boomerang shows no commercials so where is its income?
Add now we have Nick Toons (Wheres my Freakazoid!), Disney Toon (showing xmen and spiderman?!), and the two cartoon networks. The market was glutted with two and now its really going to far. Which will be the first to fall?

Disney bought Fox Kids, thus aquiring all the rights to their shows. There is no more Fox Kids, now it is the Fox Box. Hence, Disney owns the old Spiderman and Xmen. _________________ anime is teh s uck

Has toonami ever dedicated a day to gundam. Guess what no they havent. They've had dbz on for a day or more, plus dbz got runned more than once in one toonami showing. Remember how toonami only had dgz and db on the daily lineup that wuz going for like a month or more. So y cant they just dedicate one week to gundam. One time ago CN dedicated a whole saturday (24 hours) to scooby doo. So y cant we get a day of gundam. Whether it b gundam wing, gundam seed, gundam 8th ms team, g gundam, gundam stardust memory, or gundam war in the pocket, or any of the gundam series except sd gundam of course.
Or toonami can just air all of the gundam movies by air one every week they cud have a toonami movie night on fridays by endin cartoon cartoon fridays at 10 (that way i get to c endless waltz ). Whose with me on this..........?

So is playing "mod". If people want to rant, and it's more substantial than, "ZOMFGWTF!!!!!!!111eleven", then let them put it in an existing thread on the front page rather than starting yet another one about how much "TOONMAI SUXXORS!! "
The main reason there's never been a "Gundam Day" is because nobody watches Gundam anymore. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis
