The AniMatrix (the anime prequel to The Matrix) is coming.
According to www.thematrix.com the first episode will be available to view on The Matrix website in February. New episodes will be shown in the months leading up to the premier of The Matrix Reloaded on May 15th.

Not all of the episodes will be shown online. All nine episodes will be released on DVD in June.

If you haven't seen the trailer for The AniMatrix, then get over to www.thematrix.com and watch it already!

Post news and reactions to The AniMatrix here as the episodes are released.

This just screams coolness. I guess 2003 will be the year of The Matrix.

Playing with swords while blindfolded. Somebody could get hurt.

EDIT: Image has been removed because I needed to free up some webspace.

If you want to drool over that Matrix trailer you saw during the Super Bowl, you can watch/download it from The Matrix website.

Good news: the first AniMatrix short "The Second Renaissance Part 1" will premier on February 4th, uncut, free, and downloadable.

Bad news: It's only nine minutes long. We'll have to wait until May to see Part 2.

The AniMatrix section of The Matrix website has been updated with story info, director info, and wallpapers. Getcha some!

I could do that if I wanted to.

EDIT: Image has been removed because I needed to free up some webspace.

Very Happy I've got it! I've found the first episode of the Animatrix. If you wan't it too go to www.thematrix.com and click on the Animatrix. You'll come to a screen with a large launch button. Press it. You'll be ask to accept the fact that the content may not be suited for viewers under the age of 17. Finally click on the top button: The Second Renaissance, Part 1. (the green button thingy {a technical term} should be glowing.) That will take to the place to select your preferred video size. Be warned the large one, 620x262, is 141.4 Mb. The medium sized one is 280x204 and 90.5 Mb, Finally the small one is 320x136 and 30.6 Mb.

Download, and be merry!

The Second Renaissance: Part 1
Written by: Andy and Larry Wachowski
Directed by: Mahiro Maeda (Blue Sub 6)
Studio: Studio 4ºC, Tokyo

After waiting for them to post the short for seven hours, then clicking on the wrong launch button for two hours (and getting scripting errors), and finally clicking on the correct launch button, and waiting four hours for it to finish downloading, I finally got to watch it.

A trip to the Zion archives: best nine minutes of my life. How could they leave us hanging like that?

Must.......have.......more......

anyone else getting a quicktime error saying that its unable to download the appropriate plug in? i have the latest version of quicktime and already checked for updates.

it only seems to do this on the medium and large bandwidth files. The lowbandwidth file works just fine.

The second downloadable episode, "Program", is now online. It's available in English or Japanese in various sizes. Head over to www.theanimatrix.com and watch it.
