No, we don't need them. Do idiots piss me off? Yes. Idiots piss us all off. And drugs make people into idiots. I've seen it happen. Thus, Drugs piss me off. I don't need anything that pisses me off. Mankind doesn't need another tool to make itself dumber. We have enough of those already.

do you think mankind would have survived without all of the vaccinations and antibiotics that have been developed? those are drugs be it mind of BODY altering. Ritalin, tenex, prozak DO help tons of people. You think much to straight and narror for the big picture if you didn't think about things like those.

Do any of you really think you could have survived childhood without any sort of medical drug at all?

Cavemen used various plants and herbs as medicine too. Booya.

its not about physical effect its about motivation. We use medicinal drugs to prevent death and speed recorvery. Using recreational drugs are a totally different issue, the fact that they are chemically similar is totally irelevent. This is about mentality, promoting the use of recreational drugs breeds a generation of incapable idiots, that cant cope with stress properly. Im not going to change my mind, its not indicative of a healthy mental state to use drugs to enjoy yourself

We're not claiming that we've used to drugs to enjoy ourselves. I for one enjoy the taste and the variety of flavors that the different alcohals and beers have and I do enjoy the buzz/drunkeness that ensues inevitably as well. It's just one way I have fun. I understand why you don't want to drink/do drugs as to keep your body healthy but there are benifits from doing those various things. It's in excess where things go wrong. Having a beer or a glass of wine or two a day will not hurt you at all. Actually a glass of red wine a day will actually be benifitual to you and your body.

How about coke, pepsi, coffee, tea, or anything else that is caffinated? thats a drug.

No I disagree. Recreational drug use has been around for quite a long time and we don't have a genration of idiots on our hands. What is the current trend is the depenance for prescription drugs to cure everything. Is Johnny tapping his foot when he does his homework? It must mean he needs drugs to balance out his hyperactivity. Does Jenny have a hard time paying attention in math class? She must need drugs to take care of that ADD she's got. Does Joel come home all depressed from school where he's picked on all day for dressing like a nerd? He must need prozak for his depression and not a new wardrobe. Nope not at all.

THAT is the mentality that has the world in its grips. Not "Dude, wanna get stoned?" "Nah" "That's cool"

I'm again feeling the need to clear up an earlier statement. I really don't think I'm expressing myself properly. I don't need alcohol to relax or lose any of my inhibitions. I am, however, a very shy person, especially around lads I fancy. A build up of bad experiences in the past has led me to...the best way I can put it is to be extremely pessimistic. when it comes to prospective dates. A kind of, why would they like me back mentality. I have found in the past that if I have had a few drinks, I'm a lot less shy and more able to approach them.

I don't need alchol to have a good time. I drink it occasionally (usually no more than once a week when we go out), and have never drunk on my own. I don't let myself lose control, I'm always aware of what's going on, I have had two hangovers in the three years I've been going out and drinking alcohol, and I have never blacked out. I have also never tried any kind of what would be considered a recreational/hard drug (not including caffeine or alcohol), not even a drag of a cigarette.

It seems that everyone drinks. I'll admit it, I drink when it's available. I don't need it, and I'll go to gatherings every now and then where it isn't available, but I drink. Why? I still don't know...

Way to blow my words WAY out of proportion, Spook. You know what I meant. I in no way was talking about vaccinations and antibiotics and Tylenol and Advil. Also, to say that we are not in a generation of idiots is to be naive and blind. I'm pissed off daily by ignorance. Sometimes hourly.

Damn Straight. My parents fought long and hard against the childhood drug issue in my school. In the northeast it's very prevalent in elementary and middle school. I remember in 2nd grade the huge line leading from the nurse's office during lunch every day. All these 6 and 7 year old stoners roaming the hallways. Parents don't want to deal with a childs problems so they use ADD, which is very much a valid disorder, to blame every child's problem on and it gets worse with age. There are still at least ten people in my highschool who are forced to take it even though I've known them not to take it for three or four days and not have even a slight change in personality. Drugged kids experiance a life of highs and lows the same as drug addicts on the street, eventually being dependant on the drug to participate in any social interaction.

When I was younger counselers used to call me a poster child for ADHD and begged my parents to put me on Ritalin. After the first week the only change was that I was overtired all the time and got sick. They tried another drug and got sick once again. After this my mom had had enough and chose to move away from the school system. Since those first couple weeks I havn't had a single pill and my current counselers said I was completly misdiagnosed, and my old school burnt down in a fire a few years ago ^_^

What many people call ADD is just a phase that nearly every child goes through, just sometimes more so than others. Hyperactivity is what young children are supposed to be, regardless of what tired or lazy or inept parents want.

The reason it seems like a more prevalent issue now is because of the way children are expected to play and act. Less than year 50 ago kids were expected to play outside and make up games, or explore. Now they are expected to sit in thier quietly in their rooms and play with the new 20 dollar piece of plastic they were just given or stare blankly at a screen for hours on end. This lack of expendature of energy creates a build up, which make it hard for children to concentrate or stand still, and causes frequent outbursts of emotion wether is be aggression or sorrow.

Instead of being drugged children should be given a creative or phisical outlet to use up that pent up energy in a constructive and healthy way.

Anyone who believe otherwise is an asshole.

I'm an asshole. I know more about anime and shit than most people of my age, let alone school. Yet, I feel uncomfortable around people who discuss it. I pretend like I don't know what it is. The reason? Anime and J-pop ain't the way I wanna fly. It even alienates me as a friend. When somebody pops up in a NERV shirt and a mohawk one day in English, you damn better stare. I'm probably just angry that anime has gotten so much bad rap that I can't wear any NERV shirts myself. :(

But...there is a saving grace. A lot of the girls I like are casual but informed gamers. Best thing about girl gamers? Not into that MMORPG and PC gaming shiat. Consoles, baby, consoles. You'ld be surprised how many chicks jump at the opportunity to put games on a TI-83 GRAPHING CALCULATOR. It's the new Game Boy that everybody in the school already has. :D

Girl gamers have a mixed opinion by me. If a girl surprises me with gaming knowledge, or anyone for that matter (but mostly girls), I freak. See the first paragraph. But if the topic leads into it and I can call that, then I screw up AGAIN by knowing too much. >.<

Side Note: I got 2 girls standing over my shoulder while I was going through SA's Photoshop Phriday during some class. Maybe I'm just macking it and not realizing it.

:/ i wasnt trying to be superior and for the record i'm entitled to my opinion. And i hate the way people try and justify drug use by citing medical conditions as examples of it. Depression is a mental illness, treating it with drugs DOES NOT fall under the bracket of recreational drug use to which i was referring. From my perspective your point about us condeming illegal drugs means we're somehow agaisnt use of drugs for medicinal reasons, is like saying pacifists should be agaisnt cars, because tanks have petrol engines in them too.

what I was saying was that the need for legal prescription drugs to fix everything has surpassed the illegal drugs for recreation. and pacifists should be used to pave the roads so that cars has a soft fleshy comfy ride. people can no longer be sad for the sake fo being sad; if you are you're mentally ill and need an antidepressant. You get what I'm saying? We're closer to a Brave New World than anyone wants to admit.
