Post subject: Premiere Talkback: Deadman Wonderland

I suppose it's time we created talkback threads for the return of Toonami.
This thread is dedicated to discussions of Deadman Wonderland, one of two premiering shows on the new Toonami lineup.
This 12-episode series (including one prequel OVA, which they may or may not show) follows Ganta, a boy who has been convicted for a crime he didn't commit. He then has to survive a brutal prison where the inmates have to fight each other to the death, Gladiatorial style.
Enjoy the premiere every Saturday at 12.5AM. Only Toonami.

Gotta say, wasn't expecting that kind of crazyness within the first few minutes. This series seems to be really fucked up. I think I'll like it. : )

I agree. That really took me by surprise. Really twisted with the plot and characters. Looking forward to more of this one.

in short: i liked it. i though it was violent enough, the story is interesting enough to keep me watching, and that white haired girl is creepy.

I like her so far, she's that right combination of cute and crazy that IRL I'd regret later. 
As for the rest of the show, I'm reminded of SuperJail without the funny.

The series is really dark and gritty, just lovin' it! its got its comedy bits too.

Yeah, I'll admit I did the same thing there. I was half way expecting her to put that high heel through his head as well.

I was taking a count of how many deaths the first hour of the new Toonami had... including the one from Bleach, there were 31 deaths in the first hour ALONE.
I knew this show was going to be different when the promo promoting it had to have a word beeped. It... well, it definitely didn't disappoint. I'm a fan. |

Not going to lie, I think this series is going to become one of those where you watch the intro during the later episodes and you start saying, "You're dead" whenever you seen the different characters appear. Same thing is going on with Fate/zero and I remember doing that with Gundam Seed as well.

Another solid episode! I'm still digging this series, and it's great watching the characters become even more badass.
Also, "Building You A Better Cartoon" is back! Yay!

10x better than the first episode, in my opinion. The white haired girl didn't seem as creepy in this episode, and the race scene got pretty intense in some parts. they tried to work in a bit more comedy in this one, though especially during the race scene. The long lines of censorship also had me laughing.

That was a ****ing good episode. ****ing insane. Loved the ****ing bad*** intro, too. That ****ing fufilled my ****ing bloodlust. Especially loved that ****head MMA ***hole.

Amanda and I both agree the white-haired chick sounds super annoying.
Anime girls always do.
Otherwise, this looks like a series that will hold my attention. Granted, it's only 12 episodes...
