In a word-
No.
Why?
CN most likely has little interest in airing 19-20 year old programs. Plus Z and ZZ aren't likely to be popular among the majority of cartoon watching Americans. They might get SEED Destiny at some point in the future, as well as future Gundam series, but CN appears to be looking for new shows- in house or imported - not leftovers from the 80's and 90's.
...And besides, even among anime fans, Gundam seems to get the shaft. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

It would be a good idea to help boost Boomerang. But then im one of five people in the US who occasionally watch the channel |

Well, keep in mind that Boomerang is more of a boutique channel. It has a small, but dedicated audience. Also remember too that Boomerang's operating cost is only a fraction of CN's - there's no new material, all the stuff shown is owned outright by Time Warner - Boomerang can easily operate with a much smaller viewer base than can CN.
As for Zeta, another reason you probably won't see it here is that it's one of the bloodiest Gundam series. It's well known that Tomino was suffering from clinical depression when he made it, and it comes through in his "kill them all and let God sort them out" attitude shown in Zeta. (I mean, the fact that the lead character (Camille) gets turned into a vegetable is considered him being lucky should show you exactly how much blood was in this series.) _________________ Proud creator of the Wikipedia RX-78 mobile suit series article.

Angel,
Let me be another infolink member to say that you are the best newbie we've had in a long time. Welcome
And as for Boomerang you described it best. What it started out as was a place to dump the Looney tunes and such when CN started getting newer programming. It morphed into a way for late twenty and thirty somethings to relive there youth. I just want to see them expand there shows a little more. Because they do have a huge library to work with. And sometimes Boomeraction has shown something that has made me want to see the series through. But it couldnt hurt for them to show something like Voltron or Tranzor Z or some of the older americanized anime. They have already done a battle of the planets marathon. So its there to be done |

Ok well they had rights to Battle of the Planets because the show was resold what four times? Eventually one version of it will be theres. I can see the same thing with Voltron. They might not have the orignal but they could have Vehicle Voltron.
As far as i know Starblazers wasnt relabeled at any point was it? And it was really eye opening when i learned what they cut out of it for american audiences.
They have Silverhawks running on Boomerang but not Thundercats which CN did show. Any reason why they would hold back? |

Perhaps, but I've heard that New World is working on new things involving that franchise, so that may be the holdup.

There's a rather acrimonious fight in Japan currently regarding Space Battleship Yamato (seems that one party owns the story, and Matsumoto owns his designs), so CN may want to wait for that to clear up.

Again, I'd bet that there's something in the works re: Thundercats. It is a bankable franchise, after all. _________________ Proud creator of the Wikipedia RX-78 mobile suit series article.

Ok im confused it appears to be a shot for shot redo of the old voltron with some new animation on top of it. Its not the best animation ive seen but its obviously new.
Is there any reason why Gforce and Voltron arent allowed to die? It seems likes both get new repaints every so often and paraded around in some new form. Im just trying to think of why this would interest the kids of today? |

Kids today need more giant robots. Thus, the rebirth of Voltron.
Maybe that will lead to more shows with the production values of the late 80s to mid 90s again. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

As long as the animation isn't like that of CN's average new cartoon... Yes, like the Shadow Chronicles Robotech thing. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

Or RICE or Zoids. Yeah thats my fear to is that the animation will really stink. But then i remember the original Robotech where the eyes werent even being centered and think it would be hard to screw up.
Now i did see they were doing Robotech as well Nobu. But it seems odd that since we have had what 400 new Macross series since the original Robotech that they were even able to get the rights. Unless Carl Macek still owns the rights with Harmony gold?! |
