It would be easy to take Evangelion and make it fit into 2 hours. Since there were so so many dead points. Now each one was needed for the story. But its an easy series to condense. If you focus on the angels and that as the story line you can fit it into the time frame. Just avoid the building of the characters and make it a mech movie.
How did the Gundam live action turn out? I never did get to see it. _________________ Certified Narutard |

Badly, from what I hear... _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

if you make Evangelion a strictly "mech movie," then it's no longer Evangelion; Evangelion is a character/story driven movie, rather than an action driven movie (though the action scenes are pretty awesome); thus, if you take out the parts that lead to "dead points" (which I believe there really are none, if you want to understand the series as a whole) and cut the building of the characters (which, admitedly, you'll have to do at least somewhat), you aren't going to have Evangelion...you'll have some dumbed down Evangelion that might as well not have any attachment to the series at all
this leads back to my original point...it'll be very hard to bring Evangelion into two hours and create a series with the same intentions and feelings |

So lets say your want to make a live action movie based on an anime. You know action draws an audince more then dialogue right? Then someone tells you about Neon Genesis
"See its this movie about Angels attacking the earth! And these 60 foot tall robot things that fight them with large guns. And there piloted by, get this, teenagers wearing skin tight outfits! You get religion with the references to dead sea scrolls. Theres even cloning and the humans make their own god!"
Is this Neon Genesis Evangelion the anime? No. Is this how Neon Geneise the Movie would be sold. Yes. Is it a bad thing that it won't follow the full story? No not really. Because you can't tell that story in 90 minutes. But if it has good action and isnt that horrible it will bring poeple to seeing the full series and help create renewed interest in the the 26 episodes and the movies. _________________ Certified Narutard |

Which is exactly MY point. If they do it 'right', it may suck for those who have seen the series, but if it brings more interest into anime, then it's good for us.
Won't matter for me. I still havne't seen the series ^_^ _________________ anime is teh s uck

No disagreement with you on these points...
I was just saying that you'd be incredibly hard pressed to make a live action Evangelion movie truthful to it's original intentions, that was my point |

It really would've made more sense to make a trilogy out of it. The whole runtime of NGE (just the series) probably clocked in at 12 or 13 hours (not including trailor, credits, and commercials), so I could see it fitting in at 6-9 hours. Even 3 hours cuts it far close. There's just so much that happens, and so much character and story development. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

Canned. The project turned into a new TV show that's due out in September. Supposedly it's really, really good. _________________ Sometimes I miss my sanity- Wedge Antilles |

But EVA? That's different. I can't see Jennifer Garner and Justin Timberlake as EVA pilots. (Note- If Timberlake plays Shinji, the directors WILL be shot) _________________ Sometimes I miss my sanity- Wedge Antilles

where is this coming from ? just an assumption? if it is, I don't think we should be expecting a trilogy...we don't know anything about the project yet! I mean, if you get a major screenwriter, a good director, a big budget, etc...then maybe you can speculate on it becoming a series
but based on all other anime-related movies made thus far, it would be wiser to expect a one-shot dealy...unless there's been some comment on the movie being a trilogy that I haven't seen yet (which is very possible...I haven't been exactly all over this story)
as for what Bono said, yeah, I think trilogy, running in the 6-9 hour range, would be good...perfect, in fact, for Evangelion |
