Some of you might have noticed that I haven't been around for the past few weeks. Half of the reason is I've been busy as all get up finishing out this semester. The other half of the reason is that the forums decided to hate me. But, Tyler and I seem to have put a stop to such a thing, at least temporarily. We'll see how this holds out . . .

ANYway, as to the title. Some of you MAY remember the movie I made last year (Go go gadget Truffleofogous Fu!) for the Campus Movie Fest competition.

Well, we decided to do it again.

My partner and I decided that we would do some animation. Because we had no experience at it, and less time to work on this project than last year. So it made sense, OBVIOUSLY, for us to do something that would take a lot of time and would probably be better if we knew what we were doing . . .

So anyway, we took my camcorder, set it up in front of a chalkboard, and drew, then filmed, then erased, repeat, repeat, repeat . . . we took 527 shots over the course of 7 hours, spent the next 3 days editing, then my partner did the music over the course of an hour. Start to finish, all sound was done in about an hour.

We went on to WIN first place at our school (I was SO confused when that happened. Really, REALLY confused. Won an iPod Shuffle though, and was interviewed by MTVU) and, just like last year, we were shown in Boston. Our movie was one of the top 15 out of over 350 teams worth of movies. Last year it was top 15 out of only about 200 teams, and only 3rd place at our school.

But yeah, my VERY FIRST ANIMATION EVER won first place. I think that's neat.

Anyway, here:

http://www.campusmoviefest.com/movies/tufts/2006/twochalkthieves.m4v

EDIT: To watch the movie without downloading it, go to www.campusmoviefest.com , click on Watch the Movies, click on Browse hte Movies, then go to Boston 2006. Ours is titled Two Chalk Theives. So that's two options for your viewing pleasure.

It's less trippy than last year's. Which is good. I think it's entertaining, but it IS pretty crappy. But people like it. Anyway, just watch the sucker.

Congratulations, CP! Cool

That was pretty slick for a rookie effort. I especially liked the doors-exploding-into-the-camera shot.

P.S.- HIGH FIVE!

Short update: Our movie from last year was put on the DVD containing the best movies from the entire competition form the past 2 years (2004-2005).

And they just released the Best Movies of 2006 DVD, and Two Chalk Thieves is on it.

So, two years in a row, not only are we one of the top in the city, we're one of the top in the nation.

I'm IN film school, if I want. And I'm only a sophomore. Kinda really frikken sweet . . .

Good job. That was fun to watch. Very Happy

You should send that Channel Frederator. More people would enjoy it.

Heh, see, the thing is, I don't technically own it. Since the competition involves using their equipment, and you only have 5 days in which to make this project from scratch, they OWN it. You sign your rights to it away when you turn it in. Which is why despite all of their Best Of DVD sales, I haven't seen a dime.

Sending it to something like Channel Frederator might be copyright infringement . . . I'll have to look into it ^_^

Student projects have been shown before on CF.

But yeah, maybe asking would be a good idea first. Confused
