Post subject: One Piece dub question

So, they said that the new dub for One Piece would kick in during August, buuuuuut it's september now. Anybody have an acurate idea of when it WILL start up?

There are only three 4Kids-ified episodes left.
Assuming that OP gets no more preemptions (the Naruto movie on the 8th is hopefully the last one), the new episodes should begin on September 29 at the earliest.

| According to that "Toonzone" place it's airing on the 29th the Saturday after the last 4kids episode airs and they are airing 3 episodes of the show at some convention in Atlanta. |

A brief commentary on tonight's episode:
I started watching the Toonami premiere of this series up to episode 6, then quit because it was so bad. When FUNi announced that they were picking it up, I was kind of worried that I'd have to sit through the whole 4Kids dub just to understand what was going on.
BUT it turns out that this is a perfect place to start off the new FUNi dub--at the beginning of a new storyline. It feels so fresh that I don't even want to watch the previous episodes (at least until FUNi [hopefully] redubs it). Tsukento's 10 Worst Dub Moments series pretty much showed a large portion of what I'd missed, anyway, so I'm not too worried.
As for the episode itself: I must say, I'm actually quite impressed. Even though the last time I watched One Piece was only 3 weeks' worth of 4Kids episodes over 2 years ago, I could already feel the improvements in terms of...well, everything. My eardrums don't hurt anymore. At last, I can finally watch OP on my television.
I thought Sonny Strait's Usopp voice was kind of weird, though. It seemed to change tones throughout the episode; it felt strangely inconsistent.

Funimation's new dub cast is doing a great job so far. It no longer hurts my ears to listen to the voice acting! I would gladly pick up the earlier seasons provided Funimation redubs those eps. As for Sonny's version of Usopp, I think he did a great job. I'm sure he'll improve even more as the series moves on, but I don't think his first work on the character was bad at all.

I've gotta say, I was thrown off from the opening theme. The dub was pretty bad compared to the first one. And I didn't care at all for the new voice actors. I think the reason you guys like them is because you didn't like the originals, and the reason I don't like the current ones is because I did like the original voice actors. Everyone simply sounds to different. I identify characters personalities with their voices. Example, I identify Sanji with a Brooklyn chef because of his accent and smoking and such. Ergo, every guy having the voice of a thirty year old man doesn't work for me, and it's kind of confusing. I stopped watching after 5 minutes, but I might be willing to accept these changes by next week. I guess I shouldn't give up on a good anime so quick. Maybe it'll grow on me. Like a fungus.

Yeah, so I'm starting to like One Piece again, partly since the added some slightly coarse language, even if all they say is crap. At least as much as I've seen.
