In practice, I would only be concerned about spoilers for shows currently on Toonami or Adult Swim (and on their first run, not in repeats). It would be almost impossible to scan for spoilers for all other TV shows in existence.
Someone on this forum ruined MSG 0083 for me, and I hate them with all of my bitterness-organ. _________________ Able and Baker is nice. |

Could have used a spoiler tag there. I feel your pain. Just as an example of the spoiler tags i'm thinking of, go to the rpgamer forums. Their tags use the quote background but have the text the same color. Its simple enough really. |

Also CP, simply changing the color of a spoiler will not work. Different monitors have different levels of Gamma set and what may look unreadable to you, may be crystal clear to someone else. |
Oh, I agree, which is why I suggested rot13. Simple, easy to decypher and has a long history of use in text-based discussions. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

But honestly, do you want to go to a whole nother site just to jumble up the spoiler and force the reader to unjumble it at said site or just click a spoiler button and let the reader just highlight the text to view it. I personally like the latter. Less work and easier for people who don't have any idea what the jumble site is. |

But if advanced warning of spoilage is given already by nature of the thread's title, and a link (which opens up a separate window, anyway) to the www.rot13.com encryption page is easily provided via the "Announcement" you want pinned to the top, that heads off 95% of any, "Waugh! You spoilerizing bastard!" complaints.
I mean this has worked for Usenet for years, most likely before 75% of this forum started kindergarten.
Helpful factoid: 54% of all statistics posted on the internet are made up on the spot.
Please note that I'm not disagreeing with you (and a spoiler tag would be helpful), I just think the problem isn't as great as you percieve it to be. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Granted, it could be posted at the top of my purposed forum. But if this is a forum discussing anime thats currently airing in Japan, then in order to have any idea about the subject, you'd have to actually have seen the show. Therefore, there would be no need to have a spoiler system for that forum since it would obviously contain nothing but spoilers.
Now, if the forum thing doesn't pan out (yeah it'll pan out with a 1 in a million chance) then we can post the announcement at the top of the animation discussion thread. Now granted, its still more work for people to go to a seperate site to jumble the spoiler. |

So, what you're trying to say is that it'd be nice if I every once in a while returned the favor and elaborated on a post you've made? I guess you're right; it is quite a bit easier when everything you say gets interpreted to something more relevant and credible. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.
