Post subject: What's the most over used genre?
|

|

Well? I really have no idea but here's a question:
If a genre is over used does that make all the animes within that genre bad? _________________ rednekbob9: 1: You're Female

I don't know the genre either maybe fighting or something. But Of course it doesn't make all animes in that genre bad. I mean it's not the genre it's the show.

on american TV luckily we have a decent variety on, but I would say it would be the "collecting" genre that over the last few years popped up. You know, Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, T:Armada, ect.) _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar

Armada is a collecting show but its not like the others. But I completly agree its those type of shows.
Another genre? Remakes or bringing back old series. Show me one that works. The new speed racer and Armada come to mind as to why you should avoid remaking old shows.

Yeah, that pissed everyone off.
Collecting animes are overdone. Way overdone.
Oh yeah, and "magical fanservice girls". I love Cutey Honey (doesn't seem like me, huh?), and tolerated Sailor Moon, but the 12 trillion imitators do nothing. There are some with originality and wit, but if they don't have that, they can go home.
As for Dill's question, quality determines whether or not the show sucks. The problem is that most of the time, copycats suck. _________________ Sometimes I miss my sanity- Wedge Antilles |

yeah you guys are right. Collecting is the one.
What was I thinking. I went through my pokemon stage, i think most of us did. I didn't even used to watch anime then, which explains it.

Ya I'd have to agree for the most part. Not only are there too many of these series. They tend to be of the lowest quality and used maily, if only sometimes, to sell product.
Out of all of them I think Digimon tries the hardest to get out of that midset. They have some serious issues they've dealt with and they at least try to keep it fresh by making new series with different charaters, instead of using the same few over and over for more thant 200 eps like in Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh. _________________ Bang. |

Well as much as i hate the collecting genre...to honestly answer your question I have to say that its mecha....Mecha Anime has been around forever...don't get me wrong, I love Mecha, almost everything I watch is mecha, but you all know I'm telling the truth. This also answer your secind question...

No, of course not...look at mecha anime...everybody loves mecha anime...Its the quality of the show that makes it good or bad... The show has to leave some sort of lasting impression on the audience in order to be considered good. |

Digimon rocks...seriously...I'm not poking fun at people...the first season was awesome (memorable characters, witty in a stupid and kiddy but funny way, and it has it's serious moments) - but I suppose I agree with the general "collecting genre" thing...I can't stand Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon episodes seem to me to be the same episode, repeated over and over again in different locales, though this one episode is slightly entertaining
the whole "doing the anime over" thing kinda sucks...though I do like Bubblegum Crisis 2040 (never seen the original, however) |

I agree with Afro guy at the top. Digimon season 1 was good, but they screwed it up by the ending of season 2. |
