Wow. For an animation that came out in the 1990... this is so damn good. The animation, story, and even fanservice are top notch. Please tell me at least one of you out there has seen this OAV mini series. |

I want to, but until someone coughs up an English DVD release, I'm left patiently waiting, looking at pictures. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

I broke down and downloaded it from a torrent site. But I remember seeing this years ago streaming over Real via sputnik7. God I so want the DVDs. |

Hmm, that's exactly how I came upon it Spanky. Too bad Sputnik hasn't gotten anything new yet.
Gunbuster is probably among my top ten favorite series. Everything is top notch for it's time. Animation, voice acting, music, story, and the way it manages to pack to much emotion into just 6 eps. A lot of this is credited to some of Gainax's early greats, including Hideaki Anno(NGE, Nadia, MSG: CCA) of which this was his first work.
It's a shame the series has still never recieved a decent DVD release in the U.S. All that you'll likely find now are the three VHS volumes released by either US Renditions(now out of buisness) or MANGA (still around and the only company you can get high quality un-edited version). If you do a search for Gunbuster DVD all you get are two horribly done Bootlegs, one produced in the UK and another in HK. You're best bet is to try and import the new Top O Nerae! Gunbuster Remastered DVD Collection released only in Japan.
http://www.toponeraegunbuster.com/Gunbuster-Index.html you'll find some good info here. If only all anime sites were this in-depth.
I was recently given a "still in the wrapper" US Renditions version of the VHS which is very rare. I'm a happy boy. _________________ Bang. |

i suppose not much has changed...
i'll admit the series caught my eye as something i'd want to watch when composing The Infolink Recommends, though it sucks to hear that it's still lacking a dvd release... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

I thought about it.
But I want to believe the original is a lot better than Top2 (judging by the first episode).
Ah well, if Giant Robo can get a DVD release after all these years, then Gunbuster can't be too far behind... I hope. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Yeah, I saw some torrents for Top 2 and to be honest... it almost reminds me of Macross 7. So I'm leaning towards not watching it unless i'm really bored. Howerver there are torrents for the remastered DVD releases in japan, so i'll be getting those soon. |

15 months later...
Bandai Visual USA (dba Honneamise Pictures) announced at Anime Expo 2006 that they had Gunbuster and were readying it for US release.
