This topic will be on Yu Yu Hakusho vs the DBZ legacy. Who has the better characters, sagas, and fighting? Post your opinion here, but no senseless arguing. _________________ "Charles Xaiver did more for mutants than you could ever know. I think Yu Yu Hakusho has the better sagas, and sometimes characters. Sometimes Dragonball Z gets a little boring. _________________ "One Piece may seem like a pirate show, but it's really a life show. Think about it." Tom4, Toonami 2008 Hodgepodge |

I've been watching DBZ too long to pick Yu Yu Hakusho. They're both good but, I have to pick DBZ because I like it the most. _________________ "Charles Xaiver did more for mutants than you could ever know. To me Yu Yu Hakusho has better fighting and better power attacks. Who wants to hear "Ka...me..ha..me.....HA!!!" all the time? _________________ "One Piece may seem like a pirate show, but it's really a life show. Think about it." Tom4, Toonami 2008 Hodgepodge |

DBZ dragged on during the Goku vs. Frieza fight. It was supposed to be what, 5 minutes? But they spread it out over at least ten 23-minute-long episodes? And don't give me the excuse they had to slow it down because the characters had such super speed and were moving too fast. I think half the time of those episodes they spent blabbing to each other instead of fighting.
I got back into DBZ with the Garlic Jr. through Cell sagas. The Buu saga was merely OK when it started, but completely drove me away when Gotenks showed up.
YYH, on the other hand, had me hooked from the start. Good story, good characters, good pace.
So, which series do I like more? Let's just say I plan to buy all the YYH DVDs, but only a select few DBZ DVDs. _________________ "Robots don't say 'ye'."

Beefy said it all. Alot of people say Frieza was a turning point, but I feel that the formula didn't start going sour until the end of Cell. There wasn't a single character, fight, or moment after that point that I think enhanced the series at all.
YYH has it's faults as well, with poorer animation and with sometimes just as much or more useless dialouge. Though I can say one thing for sure, it's hardly predictable. You can almost sense that the characters are smarter than you in alot of cases. When the first episode premiered people said it eventually devolved into a DBZ "Over the top unreal" fighting. I've yet to see that. The villans all have purposes and motives other than to just kill the good guy or take over the world. Overall the plots are just more adult and mature than DBZ ever was. Take for instance the current arc where the characters are not only trying to stop evil, they're also struggling with the atrocities humans have commited that brought the events to bear. The latest batch of villans are just normal people with no hope in humanity.
Heck, it's just cool and Boton is teh sHiz. _________________ Bang. |

I second that. Though I've missed about 6 weeks of Yu Yu. Oh, and Boton is not the shit. Hiei is badass. The most badass. Thus, he is the shit. _________________ anime is teh s uck

Exactly. Hiei has a sword, can dodge almost anything, and can summon a dragon that could eat anything that exists. AND he's badass. _________________ anime is teh s uck

And a couple of other things that Hiei doesn't have.
Like Zechs said- no contest. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Between the two DBZ is the better show. This show was one of the very first shows to do the fast fighting, and no show can measure up to the fighting on DBZ. Yu Yu Hakusho is good and all but DBZ reigns as one of the greatest anime shows of all time. _________________ "Charles Xaiver did more for mutants than you could ever know. That's what Tom says but it's not true. Sometimes DBZ drags stuff out too long and that is BORING!! YYH on the otherhand is a fighting paradise to me. It even overthrew DBZ's ratings. _________________ "One Piece may seem like a pirate show, but it's really a life show. Think about it." Tom4, Toonami 2008 Hodgepodge |

DBZ may drag on stuff but it's still better than YYH. Who had spirit world 1st? And what about King Yama? DBZ always delivers. _________________ "Charles Xaiver did more for mutants than you could ever know. My only regret is that he had to die for our dream to live." -Magneto, X Men3:The Last Stand |

Yawn. Dbz is boring sometimes while YYH keeps people attentive. At least on YYH fighting is not a rare thing. _________________ "One Piece may seem like a pirate show, but it's really a life show. Think about it." Tom4, Toonami 2008 Hodgepodge |
