Um, I dont so much collect as buy alot of crap. Collecting more is when you buy something not nessesarily for it's own value but for the value of it as an addition to something else.
I have a semi-impressive collection of CDs, DVDs, Gundam Models but mostly books. Lots and lots of books. I could probably open up a small library in my home. _________________ Bang.

Comics, Action Figures, DVD's, art prints, art books, and probably other stuff I can't remember. I used to be big into cards.

Im starting to collect Manga and Anime. I spent $$70 yesterday and read about 40 of it in under 3 hours. The other 30 was a pair of Trigun books I have to read today. _________________ You're An Inu (Dog)!

I collect CCGs (notoriously Magic and the original Star Wars), and Ah! My Goddess fandom. I'm working on building a collection of anime, too, but Saishuu-Heiki Kanoujuu isn't out yet. _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.

Well if I were to say I'm a collector, then obviously I would say I'm the procrastinating version. My collection of stuff consist of figures, anime theme oddities, and pass downs from my brothers' comic and 80s anime collection. _________________ Tan simple y tan sencillo como eso, el mundo apesta! -inguesu

I mostly collect DVDs and pop-culture oddities... for instance, I have working replicas of Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot from Mystery Science Theater 3000...
I also "collect" toys... I use quotes here, because normal collecting requires not opening the box, while my "collecting" requires taking toys out of the box, playing with them a bit, then displaying them proudly on my shelf where they'll collect dust and look cool... but then again, I have learned to restrain myself a couple times, especially for my Silent Bob actionfigure that was signed by Kevin Smith...
And I used to collect comic books and baseball cards when I was younger... these days though, I buy a comic book or manga every once in a while, and I have completely ignored baseball in all its forms for years...
the prizes of all my collections? probably my Tom Servo and Crow, plus my Perfect Grade Wing Zero Gundam Custom model (which only took me about a week to build, but it was the most chanllenging model I've ever built next to some of my Evangelion Garage Kit models), my 12" action figure of Manji (the main character of the Blade of the Immortal manga), all of my Trigun figures (a Wolfwood, a Meryl, a Monev the Gale, and two versions of Vash, plus a Gungrave figure (which only half-counts as a Trigun figure I suppose))... oh, and all of my old Ninja Turtle actionfigures I've had since the 80's... _________________ "The principles you live by create the world you live in; if you change the principles you live by, you will change your world." -Blaine Lee

Yup, that's exactly how I do it. Play with them for a while and put them in nifty cool poses. I'm in the process of buildimng a shelf that goes all the way around my room to put them on (on account my movies have kicked them off all my bookcases).

God I want those...
As far as collecting, I love buying anime Boxsets and Manga. It may cost money but I do it for 2 reasons:
1. I may Pirate anime but if its good i'll support the makers by buying the series.
2. Theres just something... awsome about seeing your own legal copies of complete anime series next to each other on a self.
I'm almost finished with both the evangelion and love hina manga sets.
But as far as 'toys'... i'm gonna start collecting the Gundam SEED mecha... god I want Freedom Gundam...
Edit:
Oh I also wanted to say that if you buy the box set, you can enjoy the entire series instead of basing your opinion on just 2 or 3 eps. My best 'blind' boxset buy: Martian Succesor Nadesico
Worth every penny of the $50

I guess you could say I collect manga. However, thats about all I actually collect. I have some anime DVDs and stuff, but mainly I just buy stuff that I really don't need. _________________ LOVE & PEACE!

in the past, i used to collect sports cards, sports autographs, magic: the gathering cards, and anime music videos (cheapest of the list)...
i guess more recently (past year or so), you could say i've been collecting ps1/ps2 rpg's and rounding out my "essential" anime and music cd collections, none of which are likely to increase in value over time... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')
