Post subject: The broadband is free i tell you! FREE!!!

While working on linking my dad's laptop to his dell with a Linksys wirelees B router and card, i discoverd a network connection that i had not installed. "ColingHarUSAIR" was one of the connection choices listed. For the hell of it, i clicked onit, and low and behold, 11mbps connection. Us Airnet is a DSL provider in my area, and i don't know how, but apparently, one of my Dad's neighbor's had a wirless network as well. So now he can get pirated internet. But i havn';t told him for fear that hill take advantage of it, get discoverd, go to jail, and blame me for it. But next time I'm over there... I'm downloading all the mega huga anime files i can think of!!! :mrgreen:

This is the exact reason that the wireless part of the network at my house is encrypted.

i know, i know. It's wrong, but still. The nearest house is like, 800ft away. how can a wirless signal still get through?

Also replace "massive amounts" with "Arbitraitly Large".

I found a neighbor's network from my house, but it didn't have Internet access.

Haha, ST hasn't ben here for months, sadly.
And on topic, at Robot competitions, some teams set up wireless networks for their own use. The kid on our team that programed our bot used his laptop and hacked into the wireless networks that weren't protected. Ended up downloading scouting reports and the raw code from 3 or 4 other teams. His philosophy? "Their fault for not encrypting."

Well, to be truthful, all we gained from it was knowing what one team thought of us when they saw us at regionals (we were at Nationals when he hacked). It was more funny and entertaining than anything else.
