Ouch? I liked Tenchi in Tokyo! But it still didn't look to me like an OVA design...I though Z was going to be a Tenchi clone ^_~

Well, it's yet to be determined...spoiler follows *but Z (that's his official name now, apparently) does indeed generate 5 lighthawk wings*.end spoiler

And I said, "Ouch" because TinT's character designs were so sketchy and lightweight that I don't feel it's a compliment to Mr. K's original designs to compare them. JMHO.
I also liked TinT (for the comedy), but it doesn't measure up to the original.

Here's a question, was that Yagami person (in the episode of Tenchi Universe where they were at the spaceport trying to get into Jurai terratory) anyone special? He doesn't turn up anywhere else?

And was the kid watching out of the back of the car in ep.8 (I Love Tenchi) in the OVA? he doens't turn out to be the boy in GXP does he? Was he just there to show that people know weird things happen around Tenchi?

Honestly, they wouldn't put that kid staring in that shot for so long if he wasn't important would they?

I don't believe he has any significance beyond that episode...he's part of the "deus ex machina" that gets them through the checkpoint.
Tenchi Universe has no connection to the OVA continuity.

Episode 10. Wink
Seina (of GXP) is only two years younger than Tenchi. And the people in the area seem to be used to the weirdness (probably because almost all of them are Masakis Laughing )

It's a possibility...

So what's the latest, you ask?
Well, the second volume is still scheduled for release on Nov. 21st. So far, no pic of the cover art available (yet).
And AIC's message board died a month ago, I'm waiting for it to come back up for episode synopses.
And as Daikun posted on the front page, GXP's US release date has been bumped back to March.

New business
OK, back on page 6, there's a link to a translated synopsis of the three "True Tenchi Muyo!" novels:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/tatsumingo/world/world_e.html

Apparently, somebody else is trying their hand at them:
http://www.geocities.com/kryotmida/novels/ttn.htm

Yeah, crappy geocities site, but it's the content, not the presentation. Some interesting tidbits in the two sections he's already done (and remember, it's all in continuity). Wink

Crap.

Quote:
News of sale day modification.

"This Side Up! 魎 imperial ogre third period (2) "December 21st you modify sale day.

We had informed with November 21st sale, "This Side Up! 魎 imperial ogre third period (2) "is, but you modify in the above-mentioned sale day with the reason in regard to production. Large inconstancy we think painfully in everyone whom it waits in the pleasure, but in order to finish even in a little good ones and if understanding you can acknowledge, you think.

* "This Side Up! 魎 imperial ogre third period (3) "becomes 2004 February 25th sale schedule.

For those who don't speak Babelfishian, the second episode has been bumped back to Dec. 21st, and the third episode to Feb. 25th.

P.S. dill, I will get around to answering your question soon. In the meantime, enjoy:

Keep in mind that I'm hardly an objective observer and I haven't seen it for a month, but I enjoyed it rather well. Starting with the opening sequence (which isn't the opening on TDA, that'll be along for the next episode) I could see that the character designs have been tweaked slightly, most likely to make it easier to animate digitally. Colors are bright, and the sound is great (5.1 Dolby surround Very Happy ).
What I didn't like were the flashback sequences. Besides the fact they were obviously added-in after the new animation was completed, the picture quality is bad (looks like the unrestored tape masters were used), the second flashback sequence is a bad clip of random scenes from the first two series, and the music is just odd. Current theory is that they were added-in as reminders to help fill in Japanese fans to the storyline due to the six to eight-year gap between series production.
I'm sure that fans of the original show will enjoy it. I'm not sure if it'll bring new fans into the series by itself.

Eeeew!

Does anyone know if the Japanese release of OVAs 1 & 2 got THXed like the US release did?

If the scenes from OVAs 1 & 2 are as bad as you say, then they should have used the THX masters.

Time for finger pointing! Let's blame Pioneer. If we can't blame them let's blame AIC.
