heh, looks like the dude who won the omega contest at PAX is cleaning house but wow, what a pile of crap. I mean just wow. I think the only system he has that I want there is an Atari 2600 and a single NES. Though he has made 11 grand on the deal, so it can't be all bad.

Oh man, IGN has a shitstorm going on over on the PS2 battlefront after their review of Killzone.
Tycho at Penny-Arcade wrote:
Reading the fallout from their Killzone review, though, I felt like we were kindred spirits. I heard in those strangled mails the same ululation echoed in my own inbox, that howling assembly I must pretend to tolerate in order to play the gentle host. I'm right there with you, Ivan. The nicest thing you can say about Killzone is that flies real good when you throw it. You were way more polite than we would have been. Indeed, I'm about to show just how impolite we are with a comic sodomizing your detractors. Don't say I never did anything for you.
Now, one thing they said is true, and I don't mind letting them have it: sites like yours can't claim that they aren't a part, and a critical one, of the "hype cycle" for new releases. If Killzone was hyped, perhaps even over-hyped as you appear to claim, well, you can't point at Bob and say it was all Bob's doing. That's something everybody did. On the other hand, I was there when they announced it as well, and it seemed at the time like a good vessel for the hopes of that system. But Halo Killer? Be serious. There's only one Halo killer, and I'll tell you this much: it's not on the PS2.
I guess I thought the "console wars" as such were over for this generation, which is why seeing them break the flesh in this way this was startling - like the symptom of some forgotten pandemic. Each platform has, by this point, manifested its strengths and weaknesses to such a degree that they are patently obvious to anyone who is not in the throes of some orthodox mindset. Developers can take chances with their games on the PS2 because of the mind-boggling installed base, and it is the RPG enthusiast's only genuine choice. The Xbox has, in raw terms, the best hardware of this generation and the most robust multiplayer functionality. The Cube has first party titles of exceptional quality. That's the whole spectrum. There's nothing odd or unknown about any of it - and if facts like these inconvenience you to this degree, I can only imagine how difficult your life must be.

Well it's an odd year so it seems we've gone from the console wars to the game wars.
The players are many and include
Halo 2
Half-Life 2 (finnaly)
Metal Gear Solid 3
Prince Of Persia 2
World Of Warcraft
Metriod Prime 2
and I dont know if it counts but Mario Tennis is pretty damn cool.
So there they are...the GOTY contenders. Which one do you think will win?
Sequels make me feel safe... _________________ Bang.

I don't think PoP:WW counts as part of the console wars, considering that it releases on four systems simultaneously.
Anyway, as for game of the year, it really only comes down to Halo 2, Half-Life 2, and Metroid Prime 2 for this year. And most likely, Half-Life 2 gets it hands down. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

On Thursday, I got my brand new copy of GTA: San Andreas. Yesterday, my PS2 tipped over (it was standing vertical) while running, causing my disc to be scratched. The game starts up, but always has a disc read error after data is read from the memory card.
So, I have to ask if anyone here has any experience using one of those "DVD repair" kits. I need to know how effective they are and which ones are the best?
Or, should I just give up and kill myself? _________________ Able and Baker is nice.

Only used one once for FF7, my sister (who has not respect for other peoples stuff) scratched the CD. and it would freeze whenever I hit a Random battle in only one place. The thing worked pretty well for me.. And how bad is this scratch anyway? _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." - Calvin

The scratches appear to be very faint. They're not very deep, long, or wide. I read that the kits work by removing very thin layers of the plastic covering, so one should hopefully work.
Do you remember what brand your kit was? _________________ Able and Baker is nice.
