Burnout 2: Point of Impact (GC)

Short Review:
Do you like crashing into things? Do you like going fast? Do you like going fast and and crashing into things?

That's a rhetorical question; of course you do.

Well then Burnout 2 is for you.

4/5 stars

Pros:
+OMFG I AM APPROACHING THE SPEED OF FAST. Boosts are very satisfying, as are "Burnouts" - holding a boost until the meter is done, which is a bit hard when you're doing a quick turn on a narrow mountain road on the wrong side of the road.
+Decent skill-based gameplay that's very easy to learn.
+Moderate learning curve and a tutorial you can either blaze through or beat it completely and get a decent ride from the start.
+Crash mode is the best game mode ever created in any videogame, ever.
+Realistic background visuals.
+Satisfying "unlock" methods: Beat something well, unlock the next track/car/etc.
+CRASH MODE!!
+ Rewards reckless driving, except when you actually crash.
+One car looks like it was taken straight out of the Fast and the Furious.

You can also unlock hot rods, a police car, 'classic' cars, a "STUDENT DRIVER" car from 100% on the tutorial, a NASCAR-style racer, more cars, reversed tracks, and a Chase Mode with you in a cop car.

Cons:
-Music isn't necessarily bad, but nothing great.
-No licensed cars, ads, or music.
-Menu system a bit rigid but not user-unfriendly.
-For such an awesome concept, Crash Mode should be a lot deeper.
-At least on the GameCube version, some track stats are saved but things such as your best crash score are not. Some pointless Timesplitters 2-style profile stats take their place. :/
-Needs more variety in tracks (or just more in general) and the music, but both take a back seat when you're going 150 miles per hour, preferrably on the wrong side of the road facing oncoming traffic.
-Early car models are a bit bland, and some that aren't need more color options.
-NO SPINNAZ OR HYDROLICS.

It's a great rental, and an even better buy at $20 for EVERY SYSTEM, NEW.
