Battle Athletes: Victory
So I TRIED doing a smark style recap of this show, and after three episodes I quit. I'll just say this: Akari Kanzaki is a whiny brat who wants to be Cosmo Beauty like her mom, Tomoe Midoh. Midoh was the greatest Cosmo Beauty ever but to say Akari falls short is an understatement. Can Akari evolve to dsucceed? Can an anime this silly have awesome character development? Yes it can. There are reasons given for EVERYONE's actions... cept Tanya... poor T gets no solo ep! Oh well. For the most part every character gets their day.A sequel/remake of the OVA, this has Lesbian Subtext galore, mockery AND tribute of the spirit of competition. Plenty of awesome innovative sports, like the bowling/pool combination you have to see to believe. Not to mention there's an actual fulfilling ending unlike the OVA's cliffhanger. Sure there can be a sequel, but this won't leave you empty when it's said and done. Toss in a couple of good if predictable plot twists and you have something worth your precious time.
I give it 9 Weird Sports out of 10
