I live in Miami, and as many of you probably know, we are the target of many a tropical storms and hurricanes. Well I'm so lucky that University is shut down tomorrow, due to hurricane Frances,(and it's my birthday), so i'm feeling good. ANy of you had school closings at sweet times?

Apparantly driving to campus 25 minutes away and then walking to class when it's 115 degrees outside does not constitue having to cancel class. That only happens for me when there's the odd power outage, the instructor doesn't show up, or the monsoon does something wicked....of course almost none of those ever happen. _________________ There is limited intelligence in the galaxy, but the stupidity of the universe is infinite. |

I'm not sure about here. It's not supposed to hit my area till saturday so getting tommorow off isn't likely. Unless of course it starts a bee-line for us again and they want to give people time to prepare. _________________ Bang. |

the only time I've ever had a day off of school during my entire 18 years in San Diego was last October when 10 percent of the city was up in flames. The smoke throughout the county was so thick that it was dangerous to just breath even in your own home.
So here it takes a fire of emourmous porportions (which is much worse than a hurricane) to shut us down over here. Fire and at least a 8.0 earthquake. |

When I was twelve or so a snowstorm cancelled school for a week three days after my birthday. I thought it was cool, particularly since my birthday's in October. _________________ "Don't make me do something..." -WhtHawk (Because I love decisive men.) |

Am I the only one that doesn't live near a hurricane or snowbound area? And I still find it kinda creepy that me and Doug have the same birthday >.> _________________ There is limited intelligence in the galaxy, but the stupidity of the universe is infinite. |

well, if you live in the middle of a sandbox... not much(even weather) wants to go there. _________________ The problem with America is stupidity. I live in Oklahoma and thats pretty much middle. More so than where FDD is. I remember in my senior year that a tornado struck near my town while I was in school. While they didn't cancel the class, everyone had to huddle in the 'secure' area of the room. Truth be told, if a tornado hit my school, i doubt that cornor would have held. _________________ I'm getting too old for this. :SNAP: OH GOD, MY HIP! |

95?! You pansy, unless it was 70+% humidity you don't know what hot is. I have to walk to and from class with it being at least 110 outside. _________________ There is limited intelligence in the galaxy, but the stupidity of the universe is infinite. |

listen buddy, I do visit arizona a few times a year, last time I was there was late June and it was around 110 each and every day I was there, as a matter of fact the lowest it got there at night was the warmest (75) it got back at home.
I know hot, I just don't have to deal with it on a regular basis.
Oh, and it can get to be around 105 here so hush up. |
