If anyone here plays on PS2 and you have registered your system, you probably recieved one of the Holiday Demo disks. The demo Of viewtiful joe 2 on that disk should completely erase your memory card. If that happened to you, I have some really good news. You have to call 1-800-345-SONY ASAP and talk to a representative about this disk. They will tell you where to send the disk and they promice to replace it with a full version of One of the following games: Athens 2004, ATV offroad fury 3, Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, Hot Shots Golf Forel, MLB 2004, Parappa the Rapper 2, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, or Wild Arms 3. I have just called them about it and they told me that they have to recieve the disk before January 31 so if you want to get it replaced, call them right now. And by the way, If you didn't play the viewtiful joe 2 demo, but you have the disk with it, call anyway and tell them that your memory was erased to get a free game. I can't promice anything though because I still have to send out my disk.

i understand the lure of getting a free game and all, but i have to call you out on this observation...

sony is basically rectifying a mistake made by capcom on a disk that was distributed for free...they gave away a compilation of demos from other companies, and felt so impacted by the horror stories of people losing data that they went ahead and offered a FREE game for it...

now i understand the other end: sony didn't act until enough complaints compiled, and they kept the recall mostly hidden (this has been going on discreetly since early december), but what they're doing is unheard of in the corporate world...however, i respect their move, and since i was lucky enough to get warning from them (through email) before getting my demo disk, i refuse to take advantage...

so do what you will, but just keep the entire situation in mind...
