Since this forum might start to see a jump in popularity again, I figured it'd be good to start a nostalgia thread...about us!

This discussion board began as a small forum for http://www.toonamiarsenal.com. Things were busy until a massive crash caused our entire post history to be deleted sometime around 2002. In the meantime, Tyler was working on an expanded forum/news site separate from the video archive. That became Toonami Infolink. The new TI forum took some time to get used to, but it ended up being even bigger than it's predecessor and hit it's zenith in 2006 with nearly 100 active users posting each day. As toonami itself died so did we, but we made friends along the way. Personally, I'm still friends with many of the people I met on this forum way back in 2000. Before Youtube, facebook, and 4chan, online forums were the best place to waste your time online. This was our little corner of the internet.

Let's kick off new toonami with some memories of people who made this community fun.

=======================

Dreadnot: "Dread" showed up around the same time I did in the waning days of the original TDA. He started most of our gaming clans in TFC and Counter-Strike. Also the ressurector of the "Martin's Bar" thread.

Dougisfunny: Doug and I built www.otakugifs.com along with Androspook. He's that witty older guy who would often post at the end of threads to mock dump people and post helpful bits of info.

Dillpops: The crazy britgirl. I think she lives in Martin's Bar.

I'll post more later. ..also. Gouf strapped to laser cannon.

I remember doing a tech support thread way back in the day. And yes, I remember playing TFC with everyone in our old PDF clan. God, this is feeling like a class reunion.

Zechs told me on Facebook to come post here... I still can't believe this site is still chugging all these years later... The memories of the old PDF clan are still strong.

Edit- and is there anything Gouf was never strapped to?

Not yet. It developed into our own safe-for-work version of Rule 34. Wink

I'll just toss out there that the name "Androspook" came about when putting together "The Infolink Recommends" in 2004 based an older discussion thread topic:

http://www.toonamiinfolink.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=721

His content was written as 'Spookmonkey' but he was going as 'Andromaton,' so I just used the portmanteau as a placeholder until finding out which attribution he preferred. I guess it stuck...

(How the hell do I remember these things?)

It's technically only a few posts down from here as I type this, but in 2008, Dreadnot compiled some of the TDA fanfics from yesteryear:

http://www.toonamiinfolink.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3236

I think we should do a history of the various "Martin's Bar" and "Fight Thread" clones that came about during the height of activity around here. Remember when everyone had a place with his/her name on it?

Doing a compilation of the Fight / Bar thread will be a little time consuming.. but I'll start working on it, though it will take a while. Re-reading it will be enjoyable.

So, here's a bit of TI history...

Pepito (http://pepito.toonamiarsenal.com/) was the mascot of our gaming clans for many years. Under the ridiculous banner of Pepito's Domination Forces [PDF] we had some relative success in Team Fortress Classic and Counter-Strike back in the day (which was, in fact, a Tuesday). Only screenshots survive sadly. The last clan of any sorts I can remember was in Guild Wars 1.

Look what the wayback machine found.

I might still have that old site sitting on a hard drive somewhere.
