How would it have gotten better VA's if it was placed in the AS line-up....
Simply an observation that One Piece and Naruto seem to have gotten the short-shrift on Toonami, while other anime geared for Adult Swim seem to have gotten much better dubbing, in addition to less content editing.
I don't know... perhaps the distributors feel that anime to be marketed for kids 6-14 doesn't REQUIRE high-quality voicework or that their target audience simply doesn't care.

Remember kiddies, Cartoon Network doesn't edit or dub anything. Companies like Viz and 4Kids do. Cartoon Network merely chooses to AIR it. If you don't like the dubs or edits, at least blame the correct entity.

whom would you chose to do the voice acting? _________________ The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

LOL... Very funny rant. I wonder what's worse: being upset that the dubbing stinks or being so upset that people THINK it stinks that you'd spend all that time writing, recording and putting that up on the internet.
Doesn't change the fact that the voice acting on Naruto IS weak, though.

So you don't know who in the VA community would be better suited for the roles? I figured since you are such an expert at voice overs you would know who is good better than the shows creators who actually picked the VAs did.

At least he acknoledeged the humor in that sound recording. Props for that. As for how they wrote it? I'm sure they shat that out in about half an hour. It probably took them longer to bleep out the swears than it did to write it. _________________ anime is teh s uck

Memorizing a list of names doesn't make someone an expert. Nor do you need to be an "expert" to know a bad or weak performance when you see it. Often all that's needed is to compare the work to similar performances to see how it measures up.
I can give you a list of similar cartoons with GOOD voice acting, if you don't know any. Justice League, Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, sCRYed, Inuyasha, DBZ, Ghost in the Shell, Samurai Champloo, Lupin III and Paranoia Agent, off the top of my head. In all of these cartoons, the actors involved seem to have no problem either expressing emotions clearly or in creating unique voices that differentiate their characters from the others in the shows. I'll leave it to you to find out who the various performers are, so you can start compiling a list of VAs to choose from.

You're using circular reasoning. You just keep slamming the dub without any sort of solid claim.
Your claim about Iruka and Kakashi sounding alike STILL has no merit without seeing a full Kakashi episode.
Spanky's right.
You are trolling.
You have no new feedback.
I haven't said anything negative towards you in a long time and you have not changed your posting style, or added one ounce of substance to your post.
You're just grating OTHER people's nerves. Just stop.
Ok so I watched the first three eps of Naruto last night. I like the show it has great content and it's very entertaining.
I have never seen it in Japanese (will download one just to compare when I have the time), but I like what I see so far. The VA's are good and they seem to fit the characters from what little experience I have so far with this show.
My only gripe is I wish they chose someone else to do Naruto's voice. Most of the time all I think is young Gohan. I did get somewhat used to it. From what I understand this show has a large following and is well respected. If a company is going to bring a product like that to America I feel the main character should at least have his own identity (not saying he doesn't but the voice somewhat kills it). Not the voice of a character from previous show that also has a large following in America.
Other than that I don't see why there are any complaints, it's a good show and personally I rather watch it in English so I will deal with my gripe.
Will they ever come out with an uncut version? I would like to see how the show was really made but not have to read while I watch (sometimes I get lazy).
