Post subject: HUGE News (SVES Gone, Toonami Saturday, more...)
Matt Wilson (and William C. Maune in parts), via this Toonzone thread, wrote:
SVES will become Toonami on April 17th.
More from William C. Maune: According to the Animation Insider story that Cyber E. linked below, Toonami will now be targeted at Teens, that's right Teens. Back to Matt Wilson's news...
Toonami weekdays will become Miguzi. A new block. Remember when I talked about a more interactive action block? This is it. Centering on action-comedies.
toonami loses the weekdays for the saturday evening block, gets bumped to a "teen-targeted" block that we've all secretely/loudly wanted, ensuring many of the shows sves was supposed to snare and perhaps providing a haven for less-edited shows...

I've been hoping for this for some time now. While Saturday nights are going to be better, weekdays are still crappy. I hate all those shows they're supposed to be showing. But Saturday looks awesome. Are the Saturday shows gonna be uncut? Because that would be awesome. It would be like Adult Swim at a more convenient time which i really want. _________________ I am Valentinez Alkinella Xiafas Sicidabehertz Gumbigobella Blue Stradivari Talentrent Pierre AnarT Charton-Haymos Ivanovicci Baldeus George Doitzel Kaiser III

for those who don't read the main page (and i know that's quite a few), here's some more...

April 17th 2004 Toonami moves to Saturday Nights, 7 PM to Midnight, exclusively. SVES is dead, Toonami weekdays is dead, but there is more to the story.
Toonami is changing its focus to target teens, while the weekday Toonami slot will be replaced with a new block aimed at the 6-11 demographic. Toonami will continue to show Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragonball GT. Transformers Energon will join the block. Rurouni Kenshin will rejoin the block. Toonami will get an original Cartoon Network series, Megas XLR (in May). Finally, the whole thing launches with the premiere of Gundam SEED.
obviously i'm digging the kenshin part, and even with the loss of weekdays, this could very well be the start of another "golden age" in the history of toonami... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

Decreased from 10 hours a week to 5, 5 days a week to 1.
It was nice knowing you, Toonami.

Hmm, I may actually have the desire to watch again, seeing as Toonami is all but dead to me right now. It was about time it got a severe schedule change and I like it. _________________ There is limited intelligence in the galaxy, but the stupidity of the universe is infinite.

I don't think of this as Toonami losing anything.
Weekdays have sucked for months now. It was time to pull the plug.
Miguzi will probably be my favorite afternoon distraction now given that it's the home of TMNT 5 days a week and Teen Titans just sweetens the deal!
I never thought a block could grow up with me but it's actually happening.
I don't forsee uncut Yu Yu Hakusho nor Kenshin re-edited but I do see Cyborg 009 getting even less edits with it's new episdoes, Gundam SEED possibly running at TVPG, AND Toonami has now become the PEFECT home for One Piece, Naruto, Flame of Recca, and all those other shows that would have needed so much editing but didn't really fit Adult Swim.
This is fabulous news!
The revolution is back FULL SWING.
I can see them getting the later hours before AS on weekdays as well. Such as 10-11pm or 9-11pm where they could air longer series.
After months of uber reruns of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, SD Gundam... I would have taken anything even slightly better and this my friends is WAY better. Seriously, I may wet myself from joy! _________________ Toonami > sliced cheese (and I really like chees)

I will be super mega fun happy if these shows are uncut and I am definataly happy that RK is back on. I'm also majorly looking forward to Gundam Seed. I've been anticipating it for a while now. This has got to be the best CN Revolution they've had yet (Other than the creation of AS) _________________ I am Valentinez Alkinella Xiafas Sicidabehertz Gumbigobella Blue Stradivari Talentrent Pierre AnarT Charton-Haymos Ivanovicci Baldeus George Doitzel Kaiser III

Forget about "uncut", that ain't happening...even Adult Swim gets cuts.
But this is welcome news, though unexpected by a majority of fans. Good work, Williams Street! _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Well some shows could air uncut. Such as now Toonami could easily air the redub of DBZ seasons 1 and 2 "uncut" because FUNi doesn't even leave in what little cursing there was to begin with. (they do on the subs though)
I don't see them going beyond TVPG so Gundam SEED would still have to have some edits. For one the sex scene would never fly but I don't see most of the violence being an issue anymore. _________________ Toonami > sliced cheese (and I really like chees)

Or at least up to a certain point, as it always has been.
The hope is that the "certain point" has shifted slightly...only time will tell. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis
