There's a girl you want to impress because you told her you knew japanese when you don't and now you have to make it convincng?
OR
You've been told to read Noh plays in their original format and perform them in your class for world drama day?
And which class would that be dill? I think Nobu might have already finished his schooling, just maybe. As you get older dill you'll notice that "impressing the girls" doesn't mean what it used to. It goes from "look how buff and cool I am" to "check it out, I can hold a job in a faltering financial marketplace" _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar

Even then, that's no guarantee of chick flockage...
Anyway...
Dragon Master's got the general idea...but what kind of Japanese novel would I import?
Zechs: No, wrong one.
Bono: Nice idea, but I'm willing to wait for I.C. to start publishing the DGC mangas.
FDD: No, I'm terrible at games.
dillpops: no and no Noh for me.

the japanese edition of the return of the king. because tokiens writing style wasn't hard enough to follow. _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar

That doesn't make any sense. Why would you want to learn Japanese in a month just to read an imported novel? You can read those things any time, you know. You don't have to do it IN A MONTH. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015

I've got it! The Read or Die novels! Maybe...? If they exist? Well, it was a good idea when it popped into my head... _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

I was sure it wouldn't take this long...
Tyler: Sorry, nothing that classic.
Spookmonkey: LOL!
Daikun: Because until I can read it, all I can do is look at the pretty pictures (not a manga, or an artbook). And I'm impatient.
Bono: No, but I understand there is some kind of printed Read or Die available. I just can't remember if it's a novel or manga...I'm betting novel, or a series of them.

Don't be so attitudical, people do take nightclasses you know, Nobu might be taking a night class in Japanese or he could have gone back to college to pick it up.
Anyway, so maybe you've brought something that's all in Japanese...a subscription to a magazine? A historical book, a book on geography? A photobook?

And that makes 23.
So:
Actually, I bought copies of Masaki Kajishima and Yousuke Kuroda's 3 (World of)Tenchi Muyo! novels, featuring the backstory to the OVA. Excerpts from them have been translated and put on the web, but they're far from complete.
And there's quite a few original illustrations by Mr. K inside.
4 weeks delivery time from Amazon Japan. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

it amazes me that no one's decided to put an English translation out of these...there's a definite market for it here! umm...maybe not...but I mean, I would buy it!
and yah, that was harder than you thought

My apologies all around. I really didn't mean to make it that much of a challenge. Guess I'm not good at giving clues.

They're 200+ page paperbacks, from what I understand they're also kanji-heavy and densely printed. It would be quite a challenge for an amateur to sit down and translate them completely in any reasonable amount of time. And the link I posted shows the illustrations, among other images from Mr. K's various fanbooks. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S.
