Friends, strangers, and people who just don't give a damn. I come here to tell you that, yes the impossible has happened....I now have DSL!!!!!!!

Welcome to the exciting and dangerous world of broadband.

Make sure you have or get an anti-virus program and a firewall.
They are important allies when your internet connection is always on.

Ahh, now I know how everyone else here feels(well except for JJc, poor fool). Anyways, can you guys offer me some links to free software firewalls that don't suck?

Actually, you will want a hardware firewall/router combination. That way you can add more computers to your connection easily.

Like I have at my house.

Zone Alarm is one of the best firewalls I've used.
Best part is: it's free.
Zone Alarm is just the firewall, Zone Alarm Plus and Pro have extra stuff, but you have to pay for those.

You should still have a firewall on each computer. Most people with hardware firewalls never up-date them, either by choice or by force (lack of up-dates). Besides, every once in a while, you need to turn that DMZ port on.

i dunno...every ad that'd come up would probably be for english tutoring software and such in response to my lack of proper capitalization and sentence structure...
