His name is Peter Cullen. He still does the promos sometimes. Tom just took over for a minute. Cullen did do the Naruto promos. But Tom doing promos isn't a bad thing. It just means we get to hear him more. Be grateful that there are promos.

I have another example of mature shows that has a large toy selection. Aliens and Predator are those examples.

Alien and Preditor did not come out with "toys". They came out with action figures that appeal to geeks that collect such things. Big difference.

And for the last time people, there was no GOLDEN AGE of Toonami. Toonami keeps getting STRONGER. It EVOLVES. It is not STAGNANT. They are STILL the place that is getting more and more people into anime at a young age. Without Toonami, no one would know what DBZ is. Without Toonami, AS might never have even existed; both the comedy shows AND the anime showings.

I DO miss the super long promos. I have the Gundam Wing 2 minute Promo on my desktop and watch it every so often.

Why did they stop doing those?

Because they found that doing a 2 minute promo is not more beneficial than doing a 30 second promo. Shows like Naruto carry themselves. It will have a lot of viewers straight out of hte box and just keep picking up more and more as it goes on. All you have to do is say "Hey, people, it's playing at THIS TIME, ok? Now that you know, we're cool." But you don't have to work hard to sell such a show to people.

So no uber long promo.

Which is sad for Toonami faithfuls like those you find here.

But good for new viewers and Toonami.

So quit your bitching because all it does is make Tom cry.

Your contradicting yourself. Gundam came out with action figures and models but you interpreted them as toys. However if its aliens and predator there is some how a difference. Action figures ARE toys. It does not matter what show it comes from, and toys are not always necessarily for children. Gundam had bad ratings becuase they tried to appeal it to kids (not through editing through schedule) and the ratings sucked because a war story is not for kids. The action figures for Gundam were also made for geeks.

So your going to tell me that gundam model kits are toys? I dont think so. But I have another question, Why is this conversation still going on? You cant do anything to change toonami. All you can do is remember.

Point the First: Using different terms helps distinguish the demographic for which something is aimed. Action Figures usually mean something aimed at collectors, usually adults. "Toys" is more indicative of something for children.

Point the Second: Which Gundam are you referring to? MS Gundam? That didn't appeal because the animation was old and antiquated. Gundam Wing is still begged for by 13 year olds EVERY DAY on this message board. Had nothing to do with editing OR time slot.

Point the Third: The gundam model kits were made for teenage geeks. Happy in-between.

Big difference between toys and action fiqures. I may call my Big O a toy but its an action fiqure. I have kids and they have played with them and broke them. Same as my older die cast Transformer toys. Todd Mcfarlane sells a lot of action fiqures like his Spawn set. These are not aimed at kids.

Of course I may be saying all this to make myself feel better as well. Since I buy Transformer toys, Gen 1 and 2, on ebay. As well as things like MASK (teaching spelling to kids since 1986) toys and lots of other other 80's toys. That maybe there is a fine line. Between whats a toy today and a collectable tomorrow.

Just thought I'd let you know, I am getting really sick of people who use "13-year-old" to describe people who type badly and act annoying.

I've seen just as many 16-year-olds who have the same spelling "problems"

I kinda have to side with D-boy, illiteracy knows no age limits.

Although a great percentage of the illegible posts here are from the stereotype that CP cites and perpetuates. Wink
