Shirley Walker, composer for WB Animation's numerous DC animated series, has passed away on November 29 at the age of 61.

The recomposition of Danny Elfman's Batman theme for the silver screen. The Batman Beyond theme. The Superman theme... That was all her. And now she's gone. Crying or Very sad

Jeff Harris wrote up a nice tribute to her at The X Bridge. It's a great read.

Ah yes, she also did the score for Batman:Mask of the Phantasm, didn't she? That score really made the atmosphere of Batman come alive like never before. She will be missed.

I liked the music she did in the shows especially Batman:TAS. It was so haunting and dark. Every episode had music that fit the mood of the characters, and their surroundings. I just borrowed the Volume Three DVD (Batman:TAS) from the library and I really paid attention to how in depth the music was. She did a commentary with Bruce Timm on Read My Lips ,and I found it interesting how she put jazz on the escape scene. It just had that 1940's feel to it. She definitely defined a era of animation with her music.
