Does anyone know if the Japanese release of OVAs 1 & 2 got THXed like the US release did? |
I'm sure they did, but AIC might not have access to them since Pioneer did the THX. And Pioneer's not involved with this series.

Ttake a look at the screenshots page and compare (flashback shots are near the bottom). It's like looking at the difference between VHS and DVD. It's not horrible, but there are distinct differences.
I'm more irked that they're in there at all.

Take your pick. Since the two companies have split their business relationship regarding Tenchi, *speculation follows* Pioneer might not have given permission for use of the remasters and AIC might have used the best material they had handy.
I don't believe the rest of OVA 3 will have this problem.

I see what you mean. Flashbacks don't need to be perfect, but long recaps better be good quality.
It could just be how much the technology has improved over 11 years that makes the new animation look so much better. It could also just be that the old masters have degraded with age. Just look at what happened to the original Star Wars films after being on a shelf for 20 years before they got restored.

Plus the first soundtrack was released on Oct. 22nd.

Hmm that DVD covers nice, Ayeka gets some nice pics, why can't they animate Ryoko prettily in artwork!

I thought Ryoko's cover was pretty...
I'm still looking for a bigger version of #2, but I do like how that one braid on the front of Ayeka's jacket looks like Washu...
And I'm hoping that #3's cover will be Mihoshi...*drool*

Hey, hey now! Let's not get all glaivey here. Nobu is entitled to his opinion just like you are. We shouldn't demean him simply because he happens to appreciate Mihoshi more than some. I mean sure she's a bit clueless at times, kinda weepy, bubbly sheerful, cute, charming, innocently seductive, flowing golden locks, succulent bronze skin, curves that make a man weak in......uh...  .....what was I talking about again? I seem to have strayed a bit.

This Mihoshi is based off of the one from the first Tenchi OVA, it seems. And I find her the most intellegent and likable of the three.
