Some girls have made me dance-dance before. Is this a similar scenerio?

As for myself, I had a pretty good time at something that I had no intention of going to in the first place. But, in hindsight, I would definitely rewrite history if I could. (*Note: sorry about the length. Not much happens in my life, but when it does, boy it happens hard.)

First off, I wasn't planning on attending prom when most of the other student body was caught up in that whole stupid-giddy vibe. It just wasn't my cup of tea. And besides, I'm a sort of old-fashioned guy: prom is something you do with another person close to you, memory to share, time-of-your-life...y'know, all that romantic claptrap. But I didn't have as girlfriend, as such, so there. Truth be told though, there was one girl I had considered asking out, but as boisterous as I am I have all the self-confidence of a crash-test dummy, so that option was out. I had all but kissed prom goodbye when a girl I was a casual friend with came out of nowhere to ask me! She was shy, quiet, and I really wasn't that interested, but I figured, "Dude, you got no plans, so why be the gentleman that a girl deserves on prom. After all, she only gets one per life." And thus, the doomsday boulder above the little villiage creaked forward from it's trappings.

Well, did the whole tux thing (which was cool cause I got to wear zoot shoes and nobody else did!!!) and every guy knows how fun that is. Anyway, the day came and there was a big group of us that were all going together. We rented a stretch limo and had a blast freaking out the driver all the way there with a CD full of Brak stuff we all knew by heart. The actual prom was at this country club that wasn't half bad (although a few couples got in trouble for disappearing into the trees of the adjoining golf court, you could guess what for...), and the food and pictures were all part of the package deal. Dancing 'till midnight with all the regular tunes of the day (although the dance floor got surprisingly barren when some actual Rock/Metal came on, go figure). Oh, I was voted as "Best Dancer," though for the life of me I can't figure out why (but it did piss off the only black guy there who thought he was God's gift to dancing apparently).

Anyway, through all of this, I guess I kinda surprised my "date" because I more-or-less never left her side. Danced when she wanted, sat out when she did, got drinks for her, talked, and even just sat alone and talked. I even gave her my jacket when she said she was cold (go ahead and yuk it up, but I told you I'm old-fashioned and a hopeless romantic like that). End of the night come and I just notice she's really clingy. Hanging on my arm, staring at me from time to time, that whole thing. Well I walk her to her door and all, and she's just quiet and we got this silence going and next thing I know I'm kissing her goodnight. Please keep in mind at this point that I've never been in this situation before and I'm just going on what I think is supposed to happen. So at this point, the personality list is: old-fashioned, romantic, guileless, and now charming. Beieve me when I say that I'd be the last human being an earth to realize it. Fast forward to graduation and now she's coming out to me that she has a crush and wants to get together. I, of course, was completely clueless to this before (even though everyone and their grandmother at school had probably picked up that this was happening), and I take her outside, hug her, and spill the truth that I was a moron about the whole attraction thing and was only interested in being her friend. It was at that moment that I found out that the most painful thing in my life was not breaking a bone, or pissing friends off, or even having a close family member die; it was hurting someone else and making that person who I care about cry. Needless to say, I have yet to see her again to this day.

So, boys and girls, we've learned 2 things today...
1) Rycel is a rube, hopeless romantic, flattering gentleman and escort, near-Mihoshi-class clueless, an idiot-savant when it comes to dancing, and an unintentional heartbreaker.
2) What seems like a boring ol' dinner and dance at the end of high school can turn out to have some unexpected twists and turns; high school drama at its finest.

I don't know what to say to that all, Rycel. I just know that I should say it. It was all 'perfect romance story' until you were all "but I didn't like her and had to tell her" and I was all "GAH!"

Give me a day to reflect.

Now THAT is a real tear-jerking story. But look on the bright side: we all make mistakes.

But Rycel didn't make a mistake...that's the tragedy of the story.

Actaully, he did. Only one though. He kissed her. He didn't like her, but he kissed her. And since she liked him, and also since girls seem to take the whole kissing thing much more seriously than guys, this was just opening everything up for heartbreak.

Everything else was fine, and not a mistake. But the kiss is where you went wrong, and that's what caused the tears.

Hehe, some of my friends have called me Confusious. Both because I'm wise and confusing.

I should give me talk about the 4 main types of guys and the main types of girls. I've had multiple people go "OMG THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!" Specifically in regards to the girl part. ^_^

Alright, here goes. It took me half an hour to find this, and then I had to re-edit it and fix it up. So you pepole best enjoy this'.

Here goes: It seems to me that there are 4 main types of guys. Of course there are different subsets and such for each, but for the sake of the category of girls and how we react/deal/associate with them, there are 4 main categories.

First, there is, what I like to call, the 'dickass'. You see, the dickass, or DA for short, is only interested in getting ass for his dick. Hence, it is a very apt name. DA's are pretty oblivious to just about everything important in the world, and are only concerned about getting an ass on their dick. They are super shallow, super testosterone driven, and super annoying in multiple ways to any other male with an ounce of intellignece.

Next, there is the 'nice guy'. Seems like a lot nicer name than dickass, no? Well, it's not. Any time a girl says "You're a nice guy" it means, especially in high school, "you're cool. As a gay guy, I mean. I would never date you. Ever. Cuz you're nice. And I want a jackass." Now, as we get older, the attitude towards us changes. However, there are deffinitely remnants that remain. AND, NG's hate DA's. With a passion. Whenever we hear a guy say anything about only wanting action or, "I won't date her because she doens't put out.", we have the desire to rip out their intestines and make them eat their intestines, or do something WORSE. HOWEVER, being nice guys, we don't follow through, even though we should because those dickapes deserve it . . . it's a paradox. But NGs are the sensitive guys, the ones that want a real relationship and that want to know the actual PERSON, and not just the girl's body.

Third, there is the Gay Guy, or GG. These guys have given up on chicks completely because they simply don't get them. That and they're just naturally inclined to like guys for an as yet unexplicable reason, however I prefer my version better, that they just don't understand chicks.

Lastly, there is one other main category of guy. This category shrinks down to almost nothing as we age. These are the Late Bloomers, or LBs. These are the guys that just don't . . . care about girls. In Junior High there are a ton of these, in high school there are a good amount, I would assume that there are some in college, and some even become old lonely hermits. But the LBs do dwindle as time goes on. While they are LBs, they simply don't see a point in going after girls at that stage in their life. They usually turn into NGs, it seems.

Recap: DA's want ass on dick. GG's want guy on dick. NGs want girl in arms. LBs want to do homework.

DA's are also more aggressive, and thus, get the ass they desire. NG's are too passive, strategic, slow. We get run over. Hence, Nice Guys Finish Last. It sucks, but not being driven by hormones, we are stopped by logic, are too passive, and loose out.

However, there is ONE common trait all guys possess. Possibly unless said guy is gay. That is this: We don't understand girls. We simply do not understand you people. You are all perfectly logical. The problem is that you all have different logic. To know how one girl thinks is to know how ONLY ONE GIRL THINKS.

No other girl on the PLANET thinks the same way as that one. There are 3 billion different types of girl logic on this planet. No word of a lie. Every single girl is an opposite to every other girl o nthe face of this good Earth. Annoying really . . . fascinating, but annoying.

Hence, we suck at this game. Cut us some slack and stop being so cryptic. Of course, some are more cryptic than others. But you need to spell stuff out for us sometimes.

And there you have it. I wrote most of that back in September. I changed a few things, and should eventually adjust the view on girls (a friend pointed out that there are a few subsets for girls, but most are vastly different as I say) but upon me pointing out that girls don't fit into logical assumptions, I have had more than one person freak out in joy at the fact that they now understood why it is that girls were so confusing.

Hope you enjoyed.

There aren't many LBs, and I'd say half of them are simply hiding how they really feel because they're really stupid, or they're huge pansies..

There has to be a middle ground between an NG and a DA- it doesn't seem possible that the greater whole of the male population would fit into two broad catagories. Even with the subcatagories, the contrasts between the two are too great. Can you go into a little more detail on that?

I never said LBs were a majority. I know a few guys that, honestly, don't care about girls at this stage of their lives, however. It isn't a matter of risk or cowardice. They merely don't see a point in it.

As for NGs and DAs and the braod difference, when I look at things I tend to reduce them to their bare essence. Of course their is middle ground and there is an exception to EVERY rule. However, I presented my views merely to spur on your own thoughts. I don't ask that anyone adopt my philosophies as undenyable truths. And the main point that I made is that girls, on the whole, don't follow many trends. Making them entirely unable to be understood by the males of the world.

I know an LB that attracts a lot of girls just because of the fact that he's not on the look-out for them, and doens't really put much effort in.

Oddly enough, it's when you stop caring and give up that everything seems to work out in your favor.

Hence, the desperate remain desperate for as long as they really desire to not be desperate.
