Flight/fight? Well, the limbic system is a diverse array of cerebral and subcerebral structures that regulate emotions and visceral affairs. I'm thinking on a wild guess it's Acetycholine and norespinephine which might transmit to the amygdalae. Then again the feeling does involve the hypothalamus, which all in all could be cause to the effect in a person.
But if you got something else please say it then!

I got a question for the Krogoth. I came up with an answer, just want to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Why are fat people considered not attractive? Wouldn't fat mean that the person is well fed and thus must be good for feeding offspring?

Again, I have my own answer, I just want to hear yours.

because fat is considered unhealthy. way back when, chunky was considered sexy because it meant they could afford to eat the higher quality foods. Now adays fast food is so cheap and so full of fat that it's sexy to able to afford to eat less fat-enriched foods and take care of their body. remember for a while it was "sexy" to be a twig, now actresses such as catherine zeta jones and monica bellucci (while no where near fat) have all the right curves with a pretty good ammount of meat on their bones. I'd imagine in those backwoods forgien thirdworld countries it's still the fatter ones that are considered sexy for the same reasons they were so many years ago.

But Fast Food didn't exist until, oh, what, the last 50 years? Our instincts can't evolve around something that fast.

Well, the obvious explanation for that is that it's not genetic, but social. Who knows what kids pick up subconsciously from the world around them? If it were an evolutionary thing, why would there be so many standards of attractiveness? Particularly those that have EXACTLY nothing to do with survivability or fitness.

Never underestimate the effect of intelligence on behavior. In fact, try to avoid estimating it at all. No matter what you guess, it's usually wrong. Laughing

He['s right it['s social, it's ALWAYS been social. Which is why the fat people in the forbidden jungles are sexy, they don['t have fast food.

Wild rats, hallucinogenic plants, and a varies array of bugs and maggots would be considered fast food in many of their opinions though.

wild rats run pretty fast, I'd say they are fast food... And catching those you have to be pretty fast/athletic

Traumatic expeience mixed with other random happenings that create an intense fear of something that should not be intensely feared. It's all up to chance, really.
