I want to ask the people who use Adobe Premiere 6.5, or know how to use it, a question.
I am trying to make an AMV using Adobe Premiere 6.5, but when I put two pieces of a video in, the Transitions don't work. No matter what I try, the pieces just pop from one part to another. That looks very bad. Can you please tell me how to make them work?

you edit really only using video 1a and video 1b, fromsitions are dragged and dropped to the space inbewteen them where you have overlap betwwen the two. then you tweak them from there.

I did that, but it still didn't work. I tried many different transitions and moved them in any way I could possibly think of, but nothing changed. Thanks anyway.

Sometimes the transitions dont appear until after you export the video. _________________ Bang.

Zechs is right that there are some transitions/effects that you can't see until you export your video, most are not this way. Press enter, and watch the preview screen, as long as you don't have preview from ram enabled, it will render a preview of the work area (the area with a yellow stripe above it in the time line) and play an audio and video preview in premiere. If you want somthing faster, you can do a "render scrub" by holding the 'alt' key and dragging the time marker back and forth over the transition in the time line.
To be honest, many AMV creators don't use the Adobe Transitions. The tend to over power the video and mostly look bad. Honestly tell me how many times you've seen a star wipe between seenes of a major motion picture? Not many, and it was used because it enhanced the sceen. Instead, use the rubber bands to do fades or strait butt splices. These are much more common, and when done correctly don't detract from the video. Infact, many videos rely on story telling rather than transitions to keep the audience watching. Though there are some videos that you watch for the fancey effects, they arn't common and are very difficult to make.
I usually open 6 video tracks (when I was working on my WinME machine). I don't render (hide) 2 of them. It's more of a middle ground between their final place on the time line and the video bins. I use the rubber band transparancy controlls to transition between one clips from track to track.
Here is a screenshot from my current AMV Project. It's big, 2560x960, but I wanted to keep the full resolution to make the picture easier to read. I've blurred out the sont title for my own amusement. I've made a second version of the screen shot, with some lables to clarify what I'm talking about here..
Keep in mind that this is just the first stage of the video where I figure out the basic layout of the video without paying extreem detail to timing. Right now I want to get the feel right. Later I'll come back with better quality footage and replace what is on the time line with a DVD version in a lossless codec for beter quality. _________________ To do two things at once is to do neither. —Publilius Syrus, Roman slave, first century B.C.

Thanks a lot. I didn't know how to do anything since this actually my first time using this program. I never realized how many functions it has. It will take a while to learn, but it doesn't matter since I have nothing better to do. Well, Thank you for your help again.

So... Believe (The Kanon one), Die another Day, and that Raxepheleon video (can't remember it's name) were easy? _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

Both of these are 100% made in After Effects, not related to premiere by much, if any.

I'll guess the same as above.
