Fodder, so you know, his name is Nobuyuki. You keep spelling it blatantly wrong. ^_^

Parties DO suck. George Washington warned the counry that creating parties was a bad thing. What do we go and do? Start parties in the very next administration. Parties keep the powerful in power and the weak weak. NOT the way to ensure that good things actually get done. (Again, like Bush's tax cut for those that could afford to pay twice as much in taxes so as to take a little burden off of the people that can't even afford to heat their homes.)

CP, I think ol' George was speaking from idealism. I feel Parties and coalitions of like-minded politicians are inevitable in the system. It makes it easier to get government policy moving, instead of strangling itself in the chaos. JMHO.

I wonder if I can just shorten it to "Nobu" and save myself the spelling problems.

Well, I wasn't bothered by it. I knew who you meant. Smile

Do I think its enough to get things done? No. I think if you truly want to see something accomplished. You need to become part of the local government or party system and get invovled. But at least its a first step.

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't get involved somehow.

No vote is ever thrown away. I hate when people say it.

Thank God! Someone else who agrees with me!
Where's the "other" option, st?

It looked at me funny.

First, I have to say that the closest thing to a political organization I agree with is the Libertarian party. They have most of the same answers as me, although for different reasons.

Second, there are times when a vote is thrown away. First, I just turned 18, and I'm leaving Las Vegas in two months. Three weeks after my birthday (and eligibility), there was an election for district commissioners and other city offices. I don't feel that I can make a contribution by voting, because I am not familiar with those running, nor am I going to be affected by the outcome. Any decision I make would not have been an informed one, nor will it be that of a Las Vegan.
