h- .hack//SIGN - Login (Vol. 1)
Why are there only the first eight of the Neon Genesis Evangelion graphic novels released? Because character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto has been keeping busy.
Not only is Sadamoto writing the Eva graphic novels, he is also the character designer for .hack//SIGN. Now showing on Cartoon Network's SVES on Saturdays, .hack//SIGN is the story of an extremely popular online game called "The World". Players can login and interact with each other, go on quests, and just have a good time. Our protagonist, Tsukasa, has a problem: he's stuck in The World and can't logout.
This anime is in widescreen (very cool) and is one of the best series I've seen in a long time. The sets are spectacular at showing just how massive The World is. The music is also very well done and adds to the already beautiful visuals. This first volume doesn't contain lots of action, but it actually has an intriguing story.
You can get the DVD by itself, or the limited edition which contains the DVD, a PS2 demo disc of .hack part 1: Infection, a t-shirt, postcards and stickers, a plush doll of Grunty, and the first music CD of the series.
I highly recommend this series for those of you who enjoy a good story (liking video games doesn't hurt either). If you're still not sure if .hack//SIGN is right for you, or if you're too poor to get the DVDs, then you can watch it on Cartoon Network.
I gave this DVD 9 out of 10 because the only problem I have is that it seems the music is too loud at times and you can't hear what the characters are saying, other than that it's all good.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy this series.
